From the Pastor’s Desk

Cassandra and I are thankful to be a part of this faith community and for the continued support shown to us over our six and a half years with you. I continue to enjoy getting to know people through visitation, counseling, and helping in times of need as well as through ministry meetings, small groups, and worship. Thank you for letting me be part of your lives!

As I reflect on this past year at Christ Church, I am encouraged by the growing commitment to God and excited by the ministry that is taking place and the possibilities for future ministry. In this past year together we have remained focused on our biblical mission to love God, love and serve others, and make disciples of Jesus Christ and continue to implement ministry in key areas of the vision we discerned around strengthening our ministry with youth and families, small groups, and community engagement. With this in mind we have kept going many vital ministries and taken next steps as we align our resources and staff around our discipleship process of “Connect, Grow, Serve, Go.” In response to these shifts we have seen movements of the Holy Spirit, more people getting involved in ministry, and new people in the church body! As we are seeking to be effective in carrying out our mission and ministry in the 21st century God is blessing us and working through us to make a difference in people’s lives!

Some of the highlights in the past year include: congregational support to finishing my initial entry

training as an Air National Guard Chaplain to extend ministry to military families. A revamp of the chapel

program and realignment of family ministry including new curriculum for Kid’s Club and Sunday school. The

Family and Christian Life teams increased our connection with the community through numerous events. The

evangelism team repeated a laundromat ministry and battery handout helping increase awareness of the church

in the community. We practiced hospitality with the help of our visiting teams and Sunday greeter/welcome

hospitality teams. We continue to strengthen the connection with our Childcare Center resulting in new

participants in our monthly Parent’s Night Out ministry. We offered small groups for children, youth and adults

for Spiritual formation. Our Trustees had the parking lot resurfaced and trees trimmed and removed to help us

maintain an effective site for ministry. We have reestablished our partnership with Starbuck Middle School

after their change in administration and helped with Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas presents, and supplies for

students for families in need. Through outreach ministries we have also continued to support vital food

ministries and many other charities with collections of items and funds to help better people’s lives.

I give God glory for the ministry Christ Church carried out and the lives touched. I am thankful to you and our staff. I look forward to this next year seeing more lives will be impacted for Christ.

God Bless, Pastor George J. Kafer

What Will Your Legacy Be?Have you considered your legacy; how about continuing to let God use you to transform lives by adding a line to your Will that gives 10% of your estate to Christ Church. Estate

funds have helped us with much needed building repairs or improvements so that our building continues to support vital ministry.

The next Community Meal is January 14th, look for a sign- up in the south entryway to help donate food or to serve at

the meal.

Starbuck School PartnershipChrist Church is investing in our local community by supporting Starbuck Middle School. We invite the

congregation to pray for the school staff, students and their families as we seek to encourage staff, supplement supplies, and support kids. In doing so we share Christ’s

love while building trust and relationships in the community.

Need a Visit?Gifted lay people along with

the Pastor extend the Church’s presence to the homebound and others

through visits. If you have moved, are ill, having

surgery, or need a visit for any reason please call the church office to keep the

Pastor and lay visiting team informed. If we do not

know we cannot go!

Consider ThisIf you desire to give to specific ministries beyond your general offering here are some areas:

Apportionments, Building Fund

(helps with: painting, siding, repairs, parking lot…),Compassionate fund,

Roof Fund, Youth Ministry,Audio/Visual Fund,Camp Scholarships ($100 per camper).

We have bundles of worship invite cards in the entryways to take and give out: Put a stack at your office, store or place of work. Ask if you can set a stack out in a business that you frequent. Give them to neighbors, friends and co-workers. Leave them on tables at restaurants to invite your server (leave a tip, too). Give them out in drive thru lanes. Ask God to give you an opportunity to give them out. Keep a few in your wallet, purse or car.

Apportionment GivingChrist Church has a history of 100% apportionment giving, allowing us to help transform lives by God’s love. Apportionments provide for ministries that directly help over 50,000 people in Wisconsin and many more beyond. In 2020 our apportionment is $39,725, if we each give faithfully to the general fund and if able a special gift for apportionments, $236 a year per member, we can continue to support connectional ministries and free up more of our general funds to increase outreach and ministry in our local area.

Stewardship Makes a Difference!Thank you for all the ways you support ministry. This newsletter has examples of how our church is making a difference in people’s lives through your giving! It is good to see people trusting in God and answering His call to give. People are offering themselves to serve and their financial giving (several tithing 10% of income, or working toward tithing)! Check the connection table for Electronic Fund Transfer forms and ways to give of your time and talent as well. Change for Change

“We at Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin are committed to assisting homeless and at-risk veterans strive for normalcy by providing food, clothing, shelter, and other basic human needs. We believe in giving back to those who have given so much to us. Our original 15-unit Racine, WI, tiny home village for veterans experiencing homelessness opened in 2017. We have already graduated 9 residents to more traditional housing with healthy savings accounts, restored credit scores, jobs and a renewed sense of health and wellness. In addition, we operate a Veterans Market (free to participants!) serving almost 400 veterans (nearly 2,000 people in total as household members are included) experiencing food insecurity in SE Wisconsin.”
