Key elements from Volcano Reading:

1st Finding: Magma is made up melted rock crystals and dissolved gasses. Magma is found deep in the earth’s interior.

2nd Finding: Dark flat lava plains cover About 17% of the moon’s total surface! They are called Maria from the latin word of seas

3rd Finding:When magma erupts in the planet’s surface it forms lava.

Lab Finding: The more pressure on the syringe caused more lava to flow through the crater. Think of Mason’s armpit example!

1st Finding: Tectonics is the study of how the outer of a planet can shift and break.

2nd Finding: Fracturing due to extreme temperature changes is common on moons and planets without atmosphere.

Lab Finding: The more twisting and pulling the more cracks. Pushing and pulling also causes mountains and valleys.

Lab Finding : During the lab, we learned that particles of sand or dirt fly with the wind. Faster winds would result in more erosion!
