Optional Requirements 2.0 overall GPA for each semester No grade lower than a D for the semester or final

grade Scores at or above the 50th percentile on the

Reading/Language Arts subtest AND on the Mathematics subtest or its equivalent on a current nationally normed or TCAP Achievement Test

Satisfactory conduct and work habits Satisfactory attendance, including promptness to

school and each class (a total of more than 15 absences and/or tardies is considered unsatisfactory)

All applicants must successfully complete an audition and agree to stay an extra hour each day in specialized CAPA programs

COLONIAL CAPA STUDENTS

Students currently enrolled in an 8th grade CAPA course at Colonial Middle School can complete a RENEWAL APPLICATION to Overton High School for the continuation of the same CAPA program.

This is a great opportunity for students and parents to transition to the high school setting with ease.

Online Registration Process

To submit an online application, the student must currently attend a Memphis City School in the 1st – 11th gradeNOTE: Charter School students may not apply on-line

Parents of eligible students for the online application process can pick up a bar-coded “ticket” application January 30th from 6:30am to 5:00pm at the Board of Education-Auditorium and January 31-February 2nd from 7:30am until 5:00pm at the Board of Education-Room 106

If you have a bar-coded application, you can submit anapplication online by going to the Optional Schools websiteand it will provide you with a receipt

If you complete the online application, you do not need toreturn to the Board of Education on February 3rd

In order to use the bar-coded application online, the onlinesubmission must occur prior to February 3rd at 5:00 pm

Exceptions to the On-Line Application Process

The on-line application process is NOT available if you choose to have your child privately tested.

Private testing documents must be submitted in person through the regular application process.

In Person Registration Process You may submit an application in person if you do not have

web access or you prefer not to submit an application online You must apply in person if you choose to have your child

privately tested or use a test other than the 2010 TCAP Achievement Test results

You must apply in person or by mail if your student is currently a non-Memphis City Schools student (i.e. county, private, independent or parochial) or attends a charter school

You may pick up a bar-coded application January 30th from 6:30am until 5:00pm or January 31st-February 2nd from 7:30am until 5:00pm. Then, to apply in person, you must bring the application with all proper documentation on February 3rd between 6:30am and 5:00pm to Board of Education Auditorium
