The landscape of oil & gas is changing. Novum is

a physical supply and training company based in

Houston, Texas. Novum offers a stable and reliable

product supply which includes primarily fuel

oil, distillates, metallurgical coal and a variety of

custom options with professional execution every

time. With ample experience in oil, gas and coal,

Novum understands the core of these industries and

mobilizes relationships in a way that benefits clients,

analyzing and understanding the industry on a

global scale.

In 2011 Novum Energy Trading Corp, Panama was

established as a physical oil trading company, with

Alfredo Vilas as Founder and President. During this

year, Novum worked closely with a small number

of Caribbean power generators.

Facilitating all product and logistical needs for

clients throughout Mexico, the Caribbean and

South America, Novum offers some of the most

comprehensive service in our sector. The Novum

team has years of expertise in trading energy

products and works hard to understand the client’s

needs through every step of every transaction.

There’s no job too small or too large.

Novum is made up of several corporations and

holding companies established throughout North

and South America.

The broad scope of our business means Novum

offers a mix of products and services, and we have

experts in every arena. This is what enables us to

understand the client’s perspective. Securing a

term supply agreement in 2013, allowed Novum to

supply fuel oil to EGE Haina and Generadora San

Felipe, Dominican Republic. Understanding oil &

gas import regulations in every country that we do

business provides Novum with an edge that results

in our success.

In 2014, Novum secured its first major term

contract for diesel, supplying Refidomsa and

Petrojam with more than 9mbbls.

Beginning with our headquarters in Houston,

Novum seeks out the most efficient and cost-

sensitive products our customers are looking to

source. In 2015, Novum signed its first long term

storage agreement with Buckeye Caribbean

Terminals for 1.2 mbbls of fuel storage in Yabucoa,

Puerto Rico. This year included a 3 year supply

agreement for fuel oil to the Barbados National Oil

Company.

By 2015, Novum Energy Trading Inc. became active

on the domestic US Pipeline system and also

began moving trucks of B30 across the Mexican-

U.S. border in Texas.

Since 2011, Novum has operated all U.S. deals via

Novum Energy Trading Inc. which is registered in

Delaware. This encompasses storage of oil and fuel

in Brownsville, Texas and colonial pipeline activity in

Louisiana. This entity includes operations in both El

Paso, Texas and Imperial City, California for product

exported to Mexico. In North Dakota, Novum utilizes

crude pipelines on the Enbridge and Keystone

systems.

The following year, Maximiliano Poveda joined

Novum as Alfredo’s business partner, joint owner

and trader based in Dubai. NETC secured its first

transactionally secured credit line and Chief

Financial Officer, Chris Scott, joined the Novum

team. Our goal is always to be the first call when

customers know what they need. From assessing

the specific order on a case-by-case basis, servicing

clients with the best negotiations and deals in their

area and ensuring expectations are met, our team

works around the clock.

In 2012, a hedging account is opened and Marine

Cargo Insurance policies put in place allowing the

company to function as a fully fledged oil trading

company. At this time, NETC moved from Panama

to BVI to comply with standard KYC requirements.

Operations in Mexico and South America result in a

wide range of logistical needs from our customers

from variation in volume and product to delivery

via truck and rail. Understanding how to tailor a

transaction for customers is what Novum does best.

Assessing opportunity, intelligent strategy, strong

relationships and execution carried out by our team

means clients know we have their best interests in

mind every step of the way.

Novum becomes the first non-Mexican company

company to import refined oil products into

Mexico across the Mexican-U.S. border in 2016.

In that same year, Novum acquired 50% of

a metallurgical coal mine operation in the

Boyaca region of Colombia. Currently producing

approximately 3kt per month, this coal is sold

domestically throughout its joint venture company,

NEM Mining. The experience in oil, gas and coal

products on a global scale means Novum is

equipped with the knowledge and expertise to

guide customers on the most streamlined path for

every transaction. 2017 was a pivotal year for the

company, moving approximately 1,500 trucks per

month of oil products through Northern Mexico.

In 2017, Novum opened offices in Mexico City

and Monterrey. Our first office in Buenos Aires,

Argentina opened in 2018.

In North America, Novums team carefully analyze

the market for smart choices that allow our clients

to maximize their resources according to their

needs. Operating as Novum Energy Trading Inc.,

our goal is to execute a seamless, cost effective

experience. Our relationships matter and we’ve

cultivated them to result in the best interest of our

clients. In 2017, Novum moved over 330,000 bbls of

sales volume in the United States alone.

10,000 to 30,000 bbls capacity.

Offering both product and logistics services, Novum

is dedicated to customized service that merges our

team’s expertise in oil & gas along with innovative

practices that means our clients experience the

latest developments in our field. Our average parcel

sizes per week of ULSD from Citgo or Houston

Refining are approximately 50,000 bbl for barging

to Brownsville. All product is for export to Mexican

customers via truck (approximately 7,000 gallons

each) or railcar (approximately 28,000 gallons each).

Brownsville operation of distillates and gasoline

moves around 1,300 trucks and 100 railcars per

month (approximately 250,000 bbls per month).

Gasoline

Gasoline continues to fuel most of the world’s

automotive needs; it is made by blending a

number of refined products from the light distillate

streams, with this blend varying depending on local

specifications. We have a range of logistical assets

and capabilities to enable reliable supply of gasoline

to meet our customer’s requirements. We work

closely with a number of refiners, state-owned oil

companies, marketers and distributors on a regional

basis to react quickly to market needs.

Middle Distillates

Our middle distillates trading operation covers jet

fuel, kerosene, diesel and gas oil. Our team leases

storage in strategic locations and uses tankage

to enable reliable supply to customers and blend

products to meet customer’s specifications. Our

well-integrated team is able to shift trading style

and focus in line with changing market conditions.

Key to our success is the ability to coordinate

activities within our team to bring to our customers

integrated supply solutions.

Fuel Oil

Fuel oil, also referred to as, Heavy Oil or Residual

Fuel Oil, is a residue obtained from the distillation

of crude oil during the refining process. Fuel oil is

commonly used as feedstock for refineries but is

also commercially sold for power generation for

either large vessels or electric utilities. Depending

on the customer, our fuel oil trading operation

has the capability to meet multiple specifications,

tailoring blends to individual customer needs and

requirements.

Coal

Our metallurgical coal trading operation covers

different grades of coal. Our team manages equity

production from our mining activities in Colombia

and U.S. East Coast volume from producing partners.

Our metallurgical coal is highly sought after in

the energy market for its low volatile matter and

coking properties. In addition, we are fully capable

of blending metallurgical coals in order to meet any

Novum entered Mexico after collectively identifying

an opportunity in the market. After decades of state

run energy, Mexico passed legislation for private

refining and energy sources to enter the market for

energy reform. Effective in 2016, Mexico’s energy

reform act allowed Novum to engage and provide

efficient infrastructure where previous state run

programs lacked.

To execute this groundbreaking move, Novum

evaluated supply agreements with private entities,

fuel distributors, transportation companies,

government groups, mining groups and identified

companies with large consumption with limited

capabilities for infrastructure.

Novum plays a pivotal role for the supply for mining

companies, rail companies and fuel distributors and

many companies with a need for high quality fuel

products. Serving all regions of the country, Novum

assessed the most cost effective and time sensitive

way to bring fuel to these various areas from a

logistical perspective.

To satisfy the local demand of the country, Novum

has partnered with U.S. companies in the West

and South to satisfy the need in Mexico.

These full scale solutions bring competitive prices

to the Mexican market. Novum has experienced

exponential growth in Mexico, delivering oil in every

region. This means understanding how to effectively

deliver product via truck and rail, in addition to

overseeing the most economical way to deliver the

amount of product needed.

It is through this customized service and assessing

orders on an individual basis that Novum has

quickly established itself as a leader of private oil

supply in the Mexican market.

Novum is poised to continue rapid growth in

Mexico, delivering to rural areas and major cities.

A formerly state-run oil & gas industry means

limited infrastructure for Mexico. Novum has been

successful filling this gap for Mexico, importing oil &

gas that meets Mexico’s import requirements.

Novum evolved from executing imports from an

offshore perspective into a domestic company

fully registered in Mexico under the brand Novum

Mexico Trading S de RL de CV.

After obtaining a commercial license, Novum has

created relationships with financial institutions and

strategic partners for daily business operations. This

involves transport companies, rail companies and

storage terminals in the Southern United States.

Formal agreements with both U.S. and Mexican

counterparts allowed Novum to execute our supply

structure on a much larger scale. In 2017, the

calculated business plan conceived in the previous

years became a reality.

2019 will see the company’s ultimate move from

diesel imports to serving the full scale gasoline

and retail space in Mexico.

The country’s specifications for gasoline import

meant a great challenge for Novum, which meant

understanding the fiscal implications of gas import.

Our team is outfitted with the experts necessary to

grasp this legal framework resulting in execution

with mitigated risk and positive results for both

Novum and our clients.

In addition to offering private fuel storage in the

Caribbean, Novum currently does business with

major companies in the region under Novum

Energy Trading Corp., which is incorporated in the

British Virgin Islands. Serving a variety of companies

in different countries in the Caribbean, our team

understands delivery is paramount for fuel and

energy consumption. Novum operates a private

dock in Puerto Rico which drastically reduces

delivery time. When other deliveries in the area wait

weeks, Novum is able to deliver the same volume in

less than half the time.

The Novum private dock means fast delivery

of fuel oil for every order that moves to the

Caribbean offering peace of mind to our

customers in this region.

In 2013 Novum secured at term supply agreement

any grade of fuel oil and guarantee supply. Weather

is a factor in the islands and access to a private dock

is what gives our Puerto Rico operations an edge

over our competitors. Where other terminals are

forced to shut down pending the elements, Novum

is able to continue operations as usual.

facility with 4 storage tanks ranging from 60,000

to 220,000 bbls capacity.

When the elements can inhibit deployment of fuel

and distillate storage, our clients know they are in

good hands. With our private dock we guarantee

faster delivery times and reliable product that

allows business to go uninterrupted. Our team

works hard to bring a seamless experience to

clients in the islands. As natural disasters become a

growing factor for both state run and private energy

companies in the Caribbean, Novum’s presence with

North of San Mateo, Colombia, Operado San Mateo

(OSM), a Novum subsidiary, operates coal mining

operations for metallurgical coal. In assessing total

risk, Novum understands the need to diversify which

lead to the fruition of coal mine production in this

region. In the mountains North of Boyaca,, Novum

currently sells all coal sourced from this mine

domestically to a Colombian steel maker.

To make this Colombian operation happen, Novum

created the infrastructure necessary to garner coal

and make transportation of the product a smooth

experience for all involved.

Over its lifetime, the current mine is estimated

to yield 10 million tons of coal. OSM continues to

develop and implement the most cost-effective and

time-sensitive techniques for mining and delivery of

this product within Colombia.

Currently bringing heightened safety practices and

innovative safety tools and gear for our miners, this

operation has been overseen with the experience of

coal industry veterans who understand the terrain

and best methods for mining OSM’s low VM coal, a

favorite of countries like Japan, one of the world’s

largest coal purchasing nations.

In the future, OSM will export coal successfully,

bringing a new, highly profitable facet to our

Steel beam-lined archways allow for improved

working conditions on par with those provided to

workers in Australia and the United States. Unlike

the traditional wooden German doors used for

miners in the region to enter deeper into mountains,

steel’s strength can endure heavy pressure without

caving in like wood. Top grade ventilation masks

and equipment means our workers are properly

protected for the conditions.
