REQUIREMENTS

To achieve the program’s objectives, Scholars are expected to meet the following requirements:

Maintain an honors or Advanced Placement level of study in at least three (3) subject areas during each academic year

Participate in a assigned number of field experiences and cultural enrichment opportunities in each academic year

Plan and execute the Brother John Bantz Honors Program Capstone Experience in a subject area of the Scholar’s choosing in accordance with the Brother John Bantz Honors School Capstone Experience Syllabus and in consultation with the Director of the Honors Program.

The Program offerings are in line with New York State Curriculum and provide the academic rigor Scholars are looking for. Beginning with Freshman year, Scholars will develop critical thinking skills to help them succeed in the Brother John Bantz Honors Program. The curriculum offered will both challenge and excite Scholars throughout their four years at Mount St. Michael Academy.

The Program culminates with the Mount St. Michael Capstone Experience, a substantial, independent, research-based project within a discipline of deep personal interest to the Scholar. Mentorship within the Capstone Experience includes personal contact with professional experts in their field, individualized support during the university discernment and application process, and analysis of potential career interests. During their final semester at Mount St. Michael Academy, Scholars offer an oral and visual presentation of their Capstone to a large audience.
