ITM – A picturesque view

In keeping with the Institute's mission, the campus has been designed and constructed bearing in mind aesthetics and the environment. It has been planned to provide facilities commensurate with a 21st century Institute of higher learning, in an environment which enhances the learning process. The concept and design of the Institute has been provided by the Group for Rural and Urban planning, led by the nationally acclaimed architect, Mr. Romi Khosla.

The Institute was conceived in response to the acute deficiency of centers of higher learning in the country as also, the need to develop relevant human capital to meet the technology and management challenges of the 21st century. The founders had a clear and well defined mission - to build an unaided, self - financed institution committed to delivering education of internationally recognized standards, an institution that would go on to serve as an intellectual resource base in India and the sub-continent. "Our aim from the beginning has been to make this Institute the most eminent in the country, in order to draw to it the youth of every State" Committed to making a profound and lasting contribution to society, ITM recognizes no more exalted role than that of "Educated Citizens" - citizens with a powerful sense of fairness, a profound belief in democratic ideals and a willingness to celebrate talents of many kinds. For the founders, this goal is rich with meaning. ITM stands faithful to the vision of its founders - it seeks students and faculty who take seriously their commitment to their community and their World, who are aware, active and involved. Students who graduate from ITM are expected to understand the technological, environmental and ethical challenges they will face in a World of accelerating change. Recognizing that those challenges will transcend the traditional boundaries between disciplines and nations, ITM encourages education that is distinctively interdisciplinary and international.

" Yatha Drishti, Thatha Srishti As the Vision, so the World "

To meet the challenges of emerging trends in Science, Technology and Management in the liberalized, dynamic and market driven economic environment, the development of relevant professional manpower has become increasingly necessary. Accordingly, the primary goal of the Institute is:

To provide rigorous high quality and relevant education in India, designed to meet national needs and international standards, so that, the student community would have an alternative to seeking such education in a foreign country, at a significantly lower cost.

To develop well rounded and professional graduates with a breadth of knowledge and

the capability for analytical thinking who are committed to excellence in their personal and professional endeavours and, who have the vision, courage and dedication to operate successfully in a dynamic, technology driven global environment.

To establish close ties with the corporate community and academicians of national and

international repute. This will act as a rich resource of advice and information and shall help in keeping the curriculum relevant to the needs of business.

To facilitate life long learning. Continuous efforts are made to realize this goal by

providing a unique learning environment in which, the faculty and the students, share the responsibility for learning. Institute of Technology and Management's commitment to totally merit based decisions in every aspect of its operations constitutes an integral part of this learning environment; from selection of faculty and staff, to admission and evaluation of students. All programs of the Institute adhere to this core philosophy.

MDU - Maharshi Dayanand University

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) is one of the four universities that form the corner stones of higher education in Haryana. It is situated at a distance of 70km Northwest of Delhi on the National Highway No. 10. It is spread over a sprawling 740 acre of land on the outskirts of the historic city of Rohtak. Named after the great social reformer and founder of Arya Samaj, MDU was established in 1976 as a residential University with the objective of promoting higher studies in the fields of environmental, ecological and life-sciences and inter-disciplinary education and research. But in 1978, the unitary and residential character of the University was changed when all colleges in then five districts of Haryana were affiliated to this University, thus, turning it into a teaching – cum – affiliating University. The University has, since its inception, grown to 27 Post-graduate Departments under 12 Faculties with more than 350 faculty members; one Post-Graduate Regional Centre at Rewari; one University College; one Directorate of Distance Education and one Computer Centre. The University has been, over the years, constantly improving the quality of education in the traditional areas of Arts, Commerce and pure Sciences. At the same time, it has kept pace with rapid changes taking place in the sphere of technical and professional education and has introduced a number of job-oriented courses. ITM is an Autonomous Institution of MDU where admissions are conducted as per the norms of Governing Council, ITM and approved by Haryana Government and MDU. ITM is Autonomous in designing its own curriculum and conducting examinations. MDU shall award the Degrees to the students of ITM as recommended by ITM. The name of ITM will be mentioned on the Degree. Hence, the Degree will be issued by MDU with the logo of ITM.

AUTONOMY

The concept of autonomy is a structural solution intended mainly to provide an enabling environment to improve and strengthen the teaching and learning process. UGC Guidelines (2003) on the scheme of autonomous colleges spelt out the objectives of autonomy as:

to determine its own courses of study and syllabi;

to prescribe rules of admission, subject to the reservation policy of the state government;

to evolve methods of evaluation and to conduct examination;

to achieve higher standards and greater creativity;

to promote national integration; and

to ensure accountability of the institution and its members.
