AARON SCHENK

Part I

When I was younger, my childhood was filled with tons of wonderful memories.

Unfortunately, through the years those pleasant memories were later clouded by the rains of a

verbally and even physically abusive mother. After multiple years of mistreatment, I began to

look for the love I so hungered and desired after in all the wrong places as well as people.

Because I wasn’t fond of having someone telling me what to do, being in a gang was simply

out of the question. Over the years I had discovered that I was more of a leader and not a fol-

lower. With this inclination I came up with the idea to get creative and to form my own gangs/

crews.

Because of how worldly gangs were, I had to make myself known by any means

necessary. In order to accomplish this, I began to become involved in robbing, fighting and

engaging in all types of crimes. Once I started gaining notoriety and even feared throughout

the streets, I decided to join the Smack Krew. The main focus and objective of the gang was

partying, drinking and getting high. We always said that we were non-violent but truth be

told, we were extremely violent on many occasions. It was during this trying time of life that I

became homeless and spent multiple weeks sleeping at the park. After living from house to

house and trying to get in where I fit in, I met one of the most amazing and influential women

of my life, Becky Claybrook.

Talking to Mrs. Becky about GOD opened so many doors for me, I found myself

wanting more and more. The way that she put it kept me asking question after question and I

just couldn’t get enough.

Because of this, for the first time ever in my life I started to seek after Jesus! Not only was I

seeking Him to know Him but to have an actual relationship with Him. Thankfully I can say

that through Mrs. Becky, GOD performed so many blessings I my life, that I could never

thank her enough for all that she has done.

I was completely unprepared for what was to take place next. While hanging with

some friends a vehicle pulls up with three people inside and one jumped out and came rushing

towards me. I was amazed when one of my best friends and former Smack Krew members

jumps in front of the guy and starts hitting him, he really protected me! We refer to my friend

as T-Dubb and he had been in 3 or 4 fights a few days prior to this incident so his hands were

messed up pretty badly. After hitting the guy a few times, T-Dubbs hands began to hurt too

much to continue fighting anymore so the tables turned and they guy began to hit T-Dubb.

When this occurred, I jumped in and helped my friend out. By the time it was over we had

caused serious bodily damage to the point of broken bones. Afterwards, we fled the scene and

went to another park to regroup. The following day after the event, we were contacted by

Detective Ewing, who informed us that we had 24 hours to turn ourselves in. We definitely

weren’t willing to comply, so we went on the run and eluded authorities time after time. Mul-

tiple house raids occurred because we had hid at a certain friend’s house. Detective Ewing

chased us out of every house that we stayed in. With being homeless and the war-

rants on top of that it made it extremely difficult to maintain. We then felt that the

best decision would be for us to take off to Atlanta, GA.

Check back next week for Part II
