ACAMIS Swim – 축제를 방불케 하는 분위기

우리가 우승을 한 것도 물론 좋은 일입니다만, 이는 그야말로 단순한 승리가 아니었습니다. 지난 금, 토요일 학교 교정내 분위기는 환상 그 자체였습니다. 수백명의 방문객들은, NIS의 매끄러운 대회 진행 뿐만 아니라, 교내 분위기에 대해 많은 칭찬을 하며 우리의 환영에 감사를 표했습니다. 화창하고 아름다운 봄 날씨는 우리가 마치 야외 축제를 하는 것처럼 느끼게 해 주었답니다.

우리 학교의 PTA members(학부모회 임원들), 학부모 자원봉사자들 그리고 교사들이 등교일이 아님에도 불구하고 NIS의 행사에 참여해 주는 것은 아무리 그 고마움을 강조해도 지나침이 없습니다. 학교 가족으로 ‘참여하는 것’과 학교 가족에 대해 ‘얘기만 하는 것’은 분명 다른 일입니다. 저는 내일 우리가 처음 개최하는 ‘Earth Hour’ 행사에서, 많은 학교 가족들을 만날 수 있기를 기대합니다. 에너지 사용과 천연자원 보존의 중요성을, 실천을 통해서 알고 터득해 보는 것은, 단순히 그것에 대한 토의를 해서 알게 되는 것보다, 훨씬 좋은 산교육이 될 것입니다.

NIS Board Update(운영위원회 소식) – Membership of the NIS Board

NIS Board(운영위원회)는 우리학교 가족들의 전출입으로 인하여 매년 그 항상성을 유지하는데 어려움을 겪는다. 그래서 운영위원회는 언제든지 발생할 수 있는 위원 결원을 대비하기 위하여, 관리위원 세 명으로 구성된 특별위원회를 조직하였다. 인원 보충이 필요한 경우, 운영위원회는 다양한 조직의 학부모를 영입하여 임무를 수행할 수 있도록 노력하고 있다.

총회 규정에 입각하여 고려하여야 할 두 가지 중요사항으로는:1. 결원을 위하여 임시로 선임되었던 후보는 반드시 다음 선거

에 출마하여야 한다.2. 관리위원회로부터 공천받은 후보일지라도 임기만료된 위원

공석을 위한 투표에 다른 후보자들과 같이 선거에 출마하여야 한다.

다시 말하면 운영위원회가 위원들의 업무 연계를 위해 노력은 하지만, 최종 결정은 모든 회원들이 결정하게 된다는 말입니다. Louise Liu님이 올해 공천되었습니다.

Andy Chang 님과 Mirella Savegnago님이 2년 임기의 마지막에 있습니다. Mirella Savegnago님은 다음 임기를 위하여 2년 추가 임기를 위해 출마하기로 하였습니다. Andy Chang님은 재선거에 나서지 않기로 하였습니다. Louise Liu님은 올해 공천받아서 다음 선거에 자동출마하게 되었습니다.

Julia Gusten (Board Chair), Bernhard Weber (Finance Committee Chair), Patrick Heckelmann (Board Vice Chair) 님과 Monique Taylor (Governance Committee Chair) 님은 1년의 임기를 마치게 되므로 남은 임기를 더 수행해 주시기로 하였습니다.

PYP Student Led Conferences.PYP 학생 주관 상담학부모님께,

Student Led Conferences(학생주관 상담일)이 다가오고 있습니다. 이날은 여러분의 자녀들이 그들의 학습 내용을 여러분께 설명해 드리는 날입니다. 이 행사는 일년 중 매우 중요한 행사 중 하나이고 이번에는 4월 2일 수요일에 있을 예정입니다. Veracross에서 참여 시간을 예약하시기 바랍니다.

이 행사는 반드시 참여하셔야 하는 행사입니다. 이날, 수업은 없을 예정이지만, 등교일이고, 자녀들이 설명하는 내내 부모님들이 반드시 참석하셔야 합니다. 학생 주관 상담은 Primary Years Program-me(초등교육과정) 중 매우 중요한 과정이며, 이를 통해서 여러분의 자녀들이 배운 것을 재검토하고 그 결과물과 발전 진행에 대해 얘기하는 능력을 개발시킬 수도 있습니다.

MYP 학생 주관 상담 2014년도에 새롭게 개발된 주안점학부모님께,

올해는 학생들이 지식의 응용, 공연 그리고 토의에 의해 알게 된 내용이나 새로운 기술들을 표현해 보는데 주안점을 두었습니다. 각 교실에서 학생들은:

•Performing ... a dialogue / exercises / a technique•Solving... problems and explaining their method and applications •Describing...how learning has changed your opinion; how can the learning can be applied to real life•Comparing... a first draft to a second attempt•Setting ... specific and achievable goals for Semester 2•Identifying ... two stars and a wish 와 같은 설명들을 할 예정입니다.

이날은 정상등교일임을 기억하시기 바랍니다. 수업은 없으나, 학생들은 오전이나 오후에 반드시 출석해야 합니다. 그리고, 부모님이나 보호자와 동반해야 합니다. PYP학생이 있으시면 예약시간을 먼저 지키시기 바랍니다

지난 주말, NIS의 한 팀이Beijing City International School(북경시 국제학교)에 타 8개교의 200명의 학생들과 경진대회를 갖기 위하여 갔습니다. 저희는 중학교, 고등학교 분과의 모든 분야에 출전하였습니다: Debate, Original Oratory, Impromptu Speaking, Oral Interpretation and Duet Acting.

저희 학생들은 지난 몇 주간 열심히 준비하였고, 본 경진에서도 훌륭히 잘 해냈습니다. 그들은 발표자 생활이란, 긴 기다림의 연속이고, 정작 발표는 순식간에 끝난다는 사실도 깨닫게 되었답니다! 평소와 다름 없이, 저희는 많은 트로피와 함께 귀환하였습니다:

귀하 자녀의 2014/15년도 1학기(2014년 8월-2015년 6월) 교육비를 안내해 드리겠습니다. Veracross의(https://portals.veracross.com/nis)-Parent Portal(학부모 계정)에 있는-My invoices를 참조하시기 바랍니다. 내년부터는 학생편에 보내던 교육비 서류를 발행하지 않을 계획입니다.

2014/15년도의 입학을 보장하는 의미로, 한 학생당 보증금 또는 최소 지불액에 해당하는 RMB 25,000를 지불하셔야 하며, 납기일은 4월 15일 입니다. 나머지 교육비RMB70,000는 5월 31일까지 지불 부탁드립니다.

이 보증금은, 만일NIS를 떠나시게 되는 경우, 6월 16일 이내에 입학처로 서면 통지를 하시는 경우, 전액 환불 가능합니다.

From March 12-15, twelve future diplomats practiced their skills at the largest MUN conference in China. The 21st annual BEIMUN conference kicked off with Ben Keesey

from Invisible Children talking about his organization’s efforts to end the Lord’s Resistance Army’s enslavement of child soldiers. Students debated topics from

to Human Rights, to disarmament. NIS was well represented by our intelligent, thoughtful and diplomatic students.

ACAMIS BadmintonACAMIS 배드민턴 팀은 3월 19일, 3일간의 토너먼트 일정을 위하여 Shenzhen으로 떠났습니다. 주최 학교인 Shekou 국제학교는 14개교의 24팀을 수용할 수 있는 큰 배드민턴 경기장을 제공해 주었습니다.

토너먼트는 각 12팀으로 구성된 두 분과로 나뉘었습니다. NIS도 한 팀은 1분과 다른 두 팀은 2분과로 나누어 출전하였습니다. 각 팀은 남자단식, 여자단식, 남자복식, 여자복식, 혼합복식팀으로 구성했습니다. 3일 중 마지막 날에, NIS 1 팀은 1분과에서 2등 트로피를 획득했고, NIS 2 팀은 2분과에서 1등상을, 제 3팀은 7위를 차지했습니다. 위의 두 팀에 속한 모든 선수들이 우리 학교의 성공적인 경기에 큰 기여를 하였습니다.

ACAMIS Badminton물론 개인전에서도 훌륭한 결과가 있었습니다. Marla, Maike, Jason, Dol Hee 는 1분과에서 메달을 획득했습니다. Derron, Alice, Alisa, Snow, Lena, Isinsu , Arianna도 2분과에서 메달을 획득했습니다.

전체적으로, 토너먼트는 매우 훌륭한 배드민턴 잔치였고 경기 분위기 또한 너무 좋았습니다. 주관한 학교의 조직적인 경기 제공에 감사를 드립니다.

MARCH 21ST & 22ND, 2014

2014 ACAMIS SWIM CHAMPIONSHIPS

지난 금요일과 토요일에 NIS는 ACAMIS Swim Championships경기를 주관하였고 2년째 경기에서 팀 우승을 하는데 성공했습니다. 이 행사는 평소에 진행되는 경기 방식과 다른데, 일년에 한 번 열리는 예선을 거쳐 결선을 뛰는 방식입니다 – 또한 주최의 여건이 되어야 주관 가능합니다.

이 경기의 경쟁은 행사를 되새기면, 꼭 기록해 두고 싶습니다. 2일간의 경기와 61가지의 행를 마치고 4개의 계주만을 남겨 놓고 있을 때, 경기 결과는 NIS와 SCIS가 똑같았습니다. 바로 이 때13 -14세 여학생 계주경기에서 NIS 여학생들이 손톱을 물어뜯게 하는 마지막 순간, Sophie 가 SCIS선수를 재치고 승리를 따내, 다른 모든 개인 선수와 팀 경기에서 NIS가 승리할 수 있는 힘을 주었답니다. 결국 28 점 차이로 승리를 이루어냈습니다.

이 경기에 중국과 홍콩의 12개의 국제학교들로부터 240명의 선수와 30명의 코치, 그리고 150명의 학부모 관중이 참여하였습니다. 86회의 계주가 있었고 1160회 개인선수들이 수영을 하였습니다. NIS선수들은 26개의 학교 신기록을 냈고, 어떤 기록은 2번 갱신되기도 하여서, 실적으로는 32 개의 기록이 2일동안 만들어졌습니다. 경기의 질은 참관하기에 환상적일 정도로 좋았습니다.

이와 같은 행사는 여러분둘의 도움과 지원 없이는 해낼 수가 없습니다. 도와주신 모든 분들께 감사드립니다: 우리학교의 체육 주임 선생님이신 Danny님은 이 행사를 함께 기획, 모든 팀의 교통편 제공, 숙소와 식사 뿐만 아니라 다른 필요사항을 지원해 주셨습니다; NIS 시설 관리팀은 모든 시설가 버스 운행을 조직관리 해 주시고, 금요일이 끝난 후 토요일의 행사를 위해 밤10까지 새로운 세팅을 도와주셔서 저로 하여금 훌륭한 관리자라는 인상을 만들어주셨습니다; Annie님과 Eurest직원들도 시상식을 위한 부페를 포함해서 양일간의 행사를 위한 음식을 도와주셨습니다; 학부모님들과 선생님들도 줄을 세우고, 심판을 봐 주시고, 리본 달기, 사진, 행사등록, 선수 지원, 등등으로 자원봉사에 참여해 주셨습니다; 봉사활동에 참여한 학생들도 도움을 주기위하여 귀한 시간을 내주었습니다; NIS video review 팀원들은 수중 카메라로 우리의 잊지 못할 순간들을 사진으로 남길 수 있도록 해 주었습니다; 모든 NIS 임직원과 스포츠 코치들은 매우 유연하게 선수들의 시간활용을 도와서 수영선수들이 다른 모든 학업 수행을 잘 할 수 있도록 해주었으며, 결국 모든 수영팀은 지칠 줄 모르고 앞에서도 뒤에서도 모두, 행사를 잘 조직하고 잘 치루어낼 수 있었습니다

결국, 제일 중요한 것은, 모든 NIS Sea Lions 수영선수단과 이번 행사에 같이 참여하지 못한 친구들, 또 그들의 노력과 훌륭한 수영과 개인 최고 기록을 내기 위한 훈련에 전념한 것들에 진심으로 축하를 보내는 것입니다. 이번 행사는 7개월간의 고된 훈련과 한마음 한뜻으로 경기에 임한 것의 최정점이라 할 것입니다. 여러분의 코치, Grace님과 NIS의 모든 가족들이 여러분들을 매우 자랑수러워할 것입니다. 잘해냈습니다. NIS Rocks!!!!!!!!!

Action for Service Expo3월 21일 금요일, Kostya, Cameron, Bea, Danique, Lynn, Nina, Cesar, Johanna, Jemi-mah (G8), Bruce (G9), Jonas, Jannik (G10) 이 처음으로 개최되는 봉사활동 전람회에 참여하기 위하여 SSIS에 갔습니다. 6개의 국제학교에서 모인 학생들이 각각 그들의 봉사활동 내용을 발표하였습니다. NIS가 발표한 활동은Ting Ting 농아학교, 난징 동물원 개발 활동과 난징 고아원에 완구 기증활동 등이었습니다. 다른 학교들이 전시한 내용도 포함되었습니다:Roots and Shoots, Water Conservation, Tree Planting, Tiger Hill Orphanage visits, Catnip (desexing of feral cats), Migrant School Tutor-ing, Yearbook, Metro station volunteerand MUN.

대체로, NIS의 C&S 프로그램이 다른 학교의 그것과 잘 비교되는 행사였습니다. 이번 행사에 참여해 준 학생들에게 감사드립니다. 저희는 내년을 기대하고 있습니다.

“Photography featuring Astrology”

Maybe you are interested in Astrology. !Or you love taking photos just like I do. !You are curious and just want to have a look at the photographs ? !Or you want to learn more about the PPP.

For my PPP I combined Astrology with Photography which resulted in a set of 12 photographs. Each one represents one of the 12 Signs of the Western Zodiac. There will be an opening reception where food and refreshments will be offered on March 31 at 18:00 PM. Feel free to ask any questions. The photographs will be exhibited throughout the week until April 7, 2014.

1. Connie Papas의 인사말2. Richard Swart: 지난 주말부터 청도 국제학교의 교사들이NIS를 방문 중에 있고, 학교가 분주하게 이용되고 운용되는데 많이 놀랬는데, 특히 우리 학교의 큰 장점인 학부모들이 학교 시설을 적극적으로 이용하는 것에 가장 감명받았습니다.

Richard Swart님과 Derek Pinchbeck님이 학교를 떠나시게 되어 5월 30일에 작별 파티를 계획하고 있는데, 누구라도 참석 가능합니다.3. Treasure’s Report: RMB 76.934 4. International Day Expo Angela Zammit: 행사를 훌륭히 치르게 해 주신 분들께 대단히 감사드립니다. 아름다운 부스, 맛있는 음식과 전통의상, 그리고 공연. 각 나라 대표로 일해 주신 분들이 너무 훌륭히 잘해 주셨습니다.

5. Earth Hour Saturday March 29th: 7 pm에 오셔서, 다른 때와 색다른 공연과 활동들을 즐기시기 바랍니다. PTA에서는 그날 저녁 스낵을 판매할 예정이며, 모든 이익금은 “Green Team”에게 전달 예정입니다.

6. Spring Fun Day 행사가 공휴일이 있어 많은 가족들이 난징을 떠나 있으므로 다른 날로 연기할 예정입니다. 새로운 날짜는 차후에 알려드리겠습니다.

7. Charity Event Vibha Ancha: 4월 26일 토요일에 Hopeful Hearts, Ray of Light ,Butterfly Hos-pice 자선 단체들이Masala/Thai 인도 음식점에서 저녁 부페와 댄 파티를 개최합니다. 티켓은 Vibha님에게 문의바랍니다

8. PTA Structure: PTA의 새로운 조직도를 소개하고 4월 PTA meeting에서 결정될 예정입니다.9. DIPLOMA ART GRADUATION SHOW: 3월 28일 금요일 6-8pm. 이번에는 시내의 Peter Huang님의 개인 갤러리에서 개최됩니다. 티켓은 무료이고, 입학처에서 받으실 수 있습니다.

10. ACAMIS Football Home stay: 4월 24-27일에 NIS에서 ACAMIS Football 토너먼트가 개최됩니다, 중국내 국제학교 학생130여명이 와서 경기를 하게 됩니다. 만일 홈스테이 봉사가 가능하신 분은, Danny Clarke님에게 연락주시기 바랍니다.
