MacEwan School of Business Continuing Education department is the hub for business education in a part-time or short course format. In this one-stop department, you can register for professional development courses to build business skills in many areas including: leadership, project management, entrepreneurship, supervisory, computer training, and more. Or, enroll in a MacEwan School of Business program, and work towards a credit certificate, diploma or degree in the evening or online.

MacEwan’s business online options have expanded significantly, with ed2go short courses, and eCampus Alberta credit programs including Management Studies diploma, Human Resources Management certificate and Accounting Technology certificate. A limited number of Bachelor of Commerce courses are also available. So you can learn anywhere you are.

Offered in partnership with the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution (CICR), this 45-hour series will give you the skills to assist in resolving and managing conflict in the workplace. Taught by skilled conflict prac-titioners and experienced adult trainers, you will learn practical strategies to deal with your own conflicts and the conflicts of others.

For those interested in pursuing a career in mediation or further developing their conflict resolution skills, completion of this program will be credited as the first 40 hours of the Third Party Neutral Program (TPN 1) offered by the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution.

Just as financial planning is critical to the operation and success of an organization, so too is communications planning. This diploma program is a unique opportunity for people with previous post-secondary education to prepare themselves for this exciting career as a communications practitioner. Please provide this, plus your sponsor’s name and phone number and a purchase order number or authorization on company letterhead/stationery.

REFUND CATEGORIES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES

For courses more than four weeks in lengthA 100 per cent refund minus an administrative withdrawal fee (as approved by the Board of Governors) per course plus a 100 per cent refund of material and special fees is available to students who withdraw before the day of the second scheduled class. No refund is available after the deadline date.

For courses four weeks or lessStudents are eligible for a 100 per cent refund minus an administrative withdrawal fee (as approved by the Board of Governors) provided the withdrawal form is received in the Office of the Registrar five working days before the first scheduled class. No refund is available after the deadline date.

Other fees (i.e. material fees, special fees)If “other” items are provided or distributed prior to or on the first day of class, there will be no refund available once the course has started. A 100 per cent refund will be available prior to the course start date if materials are returned in unused/new condition.

When courses are offered on behalf of another learning institution or sponsoring agency, the refund category will be in accordance with the signed contract. Students must contact Business Continuing Education for further refund details.

International student fee for professional development courses.An international student who is taking a professional development course will be charged twice the Canadian tuition fee for that course.
