Jump on to the Lakes new web site any time after the 30th June and you will find a fresh new look, courtesy of Board Secretary and web Master extraordinaire, Phil Powell. Phil
spent many many days designing and piecing together the new site. Bowls Australia and State and Territory Assn. have entered into an agreement to implement the new site which will encompass the whole of sport information across Australia. The change from the old to new site was a massive undertaking and Phil has done an amazing job. Not only has his hair turned white, but half of it is now missing. Thanks heaps Phil your talent is unequalled.
Frustration followed by success

A Duel Profile...What a pair of Gems. Both of these modest Ladies have led interest-
ing and valuable Community lives. Denise Rogan, currently Ladies Secretary, left
school at 16 then went back to study for a further 9 years, she has worked in 3 levels of
Government, Local, State and Federal, she has also held positions, in Fast food, Motel
and Restaurant. She has enjoyed being a Mum of five, having a child under the roof for
the past 43 years (not counting the husband), enjoyed all the activities associated with
the Children and Grand children. And trying to keep up with 91 year old Mother at
Fernhill. Carol McNeill, presently Assistant Ladies Secretary, was born and bred in
Sydney and her two children were horrified that Mum and Dad would become Bronco’s
Supporters when they moved to Qld, they need not have worried, its still “Go the
Blues” .Since moving to Caboolture Carol has joined many Organisations—Coin Club,
RAAF Assn., Caravan Club, U3A and thankfully the Bowls Club. She says she is en-
joying her position in the Club and being able to use some of her previous work skills,
though she doesn’t feel that it has helped her keep those bowls in order. Thank you
Ladies, for the great voluntary work you do for the Club. Awesome twosome.
These two Ladies did a
brilliant job when they
worked tirelessly to
upgrade and update the
Club Constitution.

A Touch of History for the Buffs ( No You don’t have to be in the Buff to read this)
Some extracts from the Story that appeared in the Courier Mail September 10th 2004’ Did you know that Caboolture Bowls Club, now known as Caboolture Lakes Bowls Club Inc. Narrowly escaped eviction which was set to take place on May 15th 2006. By then the battle to save the Club had lasted nearly two years, with Members taking part in many protests. Fifty Members of the Club travelled to Brisbane District Court to support a Delegation of Six from the Club who had to sit through a ninety minute hearing. Then things looked a little gloomy until a last minute successful offer from the Caboolture-Sports Club meant that the twenty six year history of the Club would continue. Through-out the two year ordeal Club Members showed solid team work, by organising Fundrais-ers to pay the debt that had accumulated, they even went as far as staging an eleven day “sit in “ at the Club to prevent a take over. (who said Bowlers weren’t stubborn, I’ve known
Mules less stubborn than this). Sadly some of these Staunch Members are now deceased, and they, along with the other Participants will be long remembered for their support in the campaign to save the Club. Thankfully the Sports Club came to the rescue, just like in the old Westerns, the Good Guys rode in and saved the day, well in this case they may have left their horses at home, but they sure did save the day. (and without John Wayne I
might add)
Caboolture Sport Club Secretary /
Manager, Kelvin Patch, joined
the then, green Director, Terry
Little and Board Chairman, John
Reason.
Thank you to Stuart Morris
For saving as supplying these
Articles. For some they will bring
back old memories, while newer
Members will be informed about
some of the Clubs’ past history,
for the first time. (photos are a bit fuzzy, that’s just age, I
know that fuzzy feeling myself, yep, just
age lol.)

1. Winner says Good Morning. Loser says good heavens its morning
2. Winner is part of the answer. Loser is part of the problem.
3. Winner always has a program. Loser always has an excuse.
4. Winner says let me do it for you. Loser says that’s not my job.
5. Winner sees an answer to every problem. Loser sees a problem for
every answer.
6. Winner sees a green near every sandtrap. Loser sees a sandtrap near
every green.
7. Winner says it may be difficult, but possible. Loser says it’s possible
but too difficult.
Thank you Stuart Morris for providing these wise words.

500,000 eggs at one time (ouch sounds painful)
All Clams start out as males;

Certain frogs can be frozen solid

Clam, definitely one of those frogs)

What about some Inspiration? DISCOVERY
Today I smiled and all at once things
didn’t look so bad
Today I shared with someone else a bit of
hope I had
Today I sang a little song and felt my
heart grow light
Then I walked a happy mile with not a
cloud in sight
Today I worked with what I had and
longed for nothing more
And what had seemed like only weeds
were flowers at my door.
Today I loved a little more and frowned a
little less
And in the giving of myself ...forgot my
weariness.
