If you have a disability which requires assistance for your participation in a meeting, please contact 4-H agent Cynthia Pilcher or Jim McCann at 649-2663. 4-H Day at the Capitol On June 2, 20 4-H’ers, 4-H volunteer leader Judith McKee and agents Sandra Russell and Jim McCann traveled to Baton Rouge to tour the state capitol with 4-H Club members from throughout the state. During the tour, the group visited with Senator Neil Riser and Representative Noble Ellington. 4-H University Six Caldwell 4-H’ers participated in 4-H University held June 22 through 25 on the LSU campus. Each club member competed at the state level and participated in educational programs. Representing Caldwell Parish were Kacey Parker, Photography; McKenzie Sanders, Clover College; Ryan McCann and Neal Cubbit, ATV; Ashton Pilcher, Fashion Revue (Casual Outfit) and Jade Pilcher, Fashion Revue (Creative Choice). Congratulations to Ashton and Jade! Ashton placed Blue Ribbon and Jade was 1 st alternate. Jade Pilcher also represented the Northeast Region on the State 4-H Executive Board as Regional Representative. Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) Jade Pilcher was one of eight 4-H club members from throughout the state that represented Louisiana on the CWF trip from May 30 to June 5. Each participant paid their own expenses and spent the week at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland learning citizenship and leadership skills and touring the nation’s capital. Sites visited included the Smithsonian, Arlington Cemetery, Mount Vernon, the Lincoln Memorial and other points of interest. 4-H Camp Caldwell Parish 4-H took a delegation of 70 youth to the Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock from May 24 through 28. Educational experiences at camp included outdoor skills, water safety and science. Fashion, Food and Fitness Club (FFF) The FFF club Relay for Life team raised over $1,400 for the American Cancer Society. The FFF Reward Trip was July 29 and the 4-H’ers spent the day at the water park in Shreveport. 4-H’ers attending included Bailey Coates, Shae McNemar, Joci Harris, Marli Rae Harris, Trenton Harris, Krista Weems, Samantha Duke, Shelby Strange, Alli Roberts and Hannah McKee. District Horse Show Andy Causey and Meredith Scroggs participated in the Northeast District Horse Show, June 29 through 30 in West Monroe. 4-H members competed in horse related activities, demonstrations and illustrated talks. Andy won Champion Quarter Horse Mare.
