Post-Election China-Canada Investment and Cooperation Seminar
Date: November 10, 2015 Venue: St. Regis Hotel Beijing Organizer: BMO Capital Markets, Embassy of Canada to China, Hill+Knowlton Strategies Summary: On October 20, 2015, Canada had a federal election and elected a new Prime Minister, Mr. Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party. To assess the potential impact on the Canadian investment environment, the regulatory regime, and the economic prospects for Chinese companies in Canada or potentially entering Canada, BMO Capital Markets, along with The Embassy of Canada to China and Hill+Knowlton Strategies jointly hosted a Post-Election China-Canada Investment and Cooperation Seminar on November 10 in Beijing. Representatives from Chinese enterprises and investors, especially those from the natural resources sector, attended the seminar. Canadian Ambassador to China Guy Saint-Jacques delivered opening remarks and encouraged Chinese companies to continue investing in various industries in Canada. Mr. Michael Coates, President and CEO, Americas, Hill+Knowlton Strategies, Mr. Kevin Lynch, Vice Chair, BMO Financial Group, and Mr. Dan Barclay, Head of Investment & Corporate Banking, Canada & Int’l, BMO Capital Markets also delivered speeches about the following topics: The Changing Political Environment in Canada, What Do Investors Need To Know, Impact of Election on Canadian Industrial and Investment Policies, and Perspectives on Canadian Capital Markets.

Regulation of Upstream Natural Gas in British Columbia Workshop
Date: November 2, 2015 Venue: Rosewood Beijing Hotel Organizer: British Columbia (BC) Trade and Investment Beijing Office, BC Oil & Gas Commission, Oil & Gas Department of Natural Energy Administration (NEA) of China Partner: Embassy of Canada to China Summary: On the occasion of British Columbia’s Premier Christy Clark visit to China early November 2015, BC Trade and Investment Beijing Office, BC Oil & Gas Commission and China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) jointly hosted the workshop on Regulation of Upstream Natural Gas in British Columbia. Government officials and industry leaders from Canada presented a full spectrum of natural gas development in British Columbia, including China’s Gas Outlook and Cooperation with British Columbia (Dr. Lei Yang, Deputy Director General of NEA Oil & Gas Department), Oil and Gas Regulatory Excellence for BC’s Changing Energy Future (Paul Jeakins, Commissioner and CEO of BC Oil and Gas Commission), Navigating Engagement and Partnerships with First Nations (Karen Ogen, Chief of Wet'suwet'en First Nation), Efficient and Inclusive Environmental Assessment (Rob Whitwham, Vice President of Canadian LNG at Spectra Energy), and Opportunities and Challenges of British Columbia’s LNG (Jamie Sawchuk, Partner of Deloitte Canada). A cohort of about 100 representatives of E&Ps, investors, engineering and service companies attended the workshop.

3rd China (Karamay) International Petroleum & Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition (CKPPE)
Date: August 28 – September 2, 2015 Venue: Karamy Conference and Exhibition Centre, Karamay, Xinjiang Autonomous Region Organizer: PetroChina Xinjiang Oilfield Company, Municipal Government of Karamay Partner: Embassy of Canada to China Canadian companies: Beta Machinery Analysis, C-COM Satellite Systems, Redline Communications Summary: Xinjiang is rich in oil and gas resources, and has been a historical exploration and production area of China. In July 2015, it was selected by the Ministry of Land and Resources as the pilot area of oil and gas exploration and exploitation reform, becoming the frontline of the reform in Chinese oil and gas industry. In addition, as the core region of Chinese "One Belt One Road" strategy and thanks to its geographic position and advantages in international energy cooperation, Xinjiang attracts more attention. Three consulting and communications companies from Alberta and Ontario participated and exhibited at 3rd China (Karamay) International Petroleum & Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition (CKPPE) which was held from August 31 to September 2 in the city of Karamay, Xinjiang. Trade Commissioner from Canadian Embassy and representatives from the three companies visited PetroChina Xinjiang Oilfield Company, met and exchanged information with friends from Equipment Management Department, Information Technology Department, Reservoir Evaluation Department and Data Company.

Supporter: Embassy of Canada to China Summary: Redline Communications Inc. was founded in 1999, publicly listed in Canda (TSX: RDL). It is the one of the leading industrial wireless broadband solutions providers. Redline networks are used by oil and gas companies to manage onshore and offshore assets in a number of fields such as exploitation, drilling, production, storage and transportation. Redline Virtual Fiber™ wireless transport could easily and reliably extend the network access to people and equipment in places beyond the reach of conventional wired solutions. Alberta Petrochemical Development Opportunities Seminar Date: May 15, 2015 Venue: Landmark Hotel Beijing Organizer: Alberta Government China Office and China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) Partner: Embassy of Canada to China Canadian organization: Alberta’s Industrial Heartland
Summary: Located in Edmonton, Alberta’s Industrial Heartland is Canada's largest oil and gas processing zone. It is an established industrial area with more than 40 companies operating at the moment, producing a wide range of products including polyethylene, ethylene glycol, gasoline, diesel urea, ethane, propane, butane and other products. Alberta has abundant oil and gas resources which provide adequate, stable and inexpensive supply of raw materials. At this seminar, Alberta’s Industrial Heartland presented to the audience an overview of the heartland, including upstream resources and production, midstream and downstream infrastructure, transport, and Canadian regulations, as well downstream investment opportunities in petrochemical industry in Alberta. Representatives from Alberta’s Industrial Heartland and local Governments, industry experts, and officials from Alberta China Office and Embassy of Canada to China attended the seminar.

BC LNG Investment Roundtable
Date: April 24, 2015 Venue: British Columbia Beijing Office Organizer: British Columbia Beijing Office Partner: Embassy of Canada to China Canadian companies: Steelhead LNG, Nisga'a Nation LNG, LNG Direct Rail Summary: The natural gas reserves in British Columbia is about 290 tcf, enough to supply exports
for more than 150 years. So far there are 19 proposed LNG projects proposed in BC and 11 have
obtained Export Licence from Canadian National Energy Board (NEB). The BC Government targets
at least three projects online by 2020 with an annual export volume of 8,200 tons. Senior executives
from three LNG projects came to promote their projects in China. They had a discussion with more
than 40 potential traders and investors from China on the prospect of exporting LNG to China as
well as investment opportunities.

Partner: Embassy of Canada to China, Alberta Government China Office, British Columbia Beijing Office, CNPC-Alberta Petroleum Centre (CAPC), Canada-China Business Council (CCBC), Canada China Energy & Environment Forum(CEEF), Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP, PWC, KPMG, Jereh Group Canadian companies: Advanced Measurement Inc., Bertram Drilling (Division of Energold) , Calfrac Well Services, C-COM Satellite Systems, David Bromley Engineering, Enbridge, Energold Group, Hi-Kalibre Equipment, Inventys Thermal Technologies, Mirus International, Oil Sand Environmental Development and Services, Packers Plus Energy Services, Palantir Solutions, Profundo Technologies, Propak Systems, West Mountain Environmental / Phase Separation Solutions Inc. , PMO Global Services, Sproule Associates Ltd. , Timberland Equipment, TransCanada Summary: More than twenty Canadian companies specializing in drilling, fracturing, pipeline operations and maintenance, water treatment, soil remediation, carbon capture and use, oil digital and information technology and other aspects of the Canadian oil and gas equipment, technology, engineering and services, joined the CNOOC-Nexen business mission to China and participated in various seminars and events during the week, including CNOOC Workshops and welcome dinner, visits to CNOOC subsidiaries (such as COSL, COOEC, Enertech, the floating LNG terminal in Tianjin, and etc.), "Canada – Energy Dialogue" and reception at Canadian Embassy, and programs organized by other partners. Delegates were also able to have one-on-one meetings with other private oil and gas companies in China. This is the second business mission to China organized by CNOOC after its acquisition of Nexen. Highlight: At the CNOOC workshop and welcome dinner on Apr. 20, CNOOC Group Vice President Guangqi Wu delivered a speech welcoming Canadian delegates and appreciated their support to CNOOC Group and Nexen Ltd. Official from Canadian Embassy spoke at the workshop and emphasized the complementarity in the energy sector between the two countries. On April 23rd, a "Canada - Energy Dialogue" was held at the Canadian Embassy and Canadian Ambassador Guy Saint-Jacque encouraged cooperation between Canadian and Chinese energy industries. During the dialogue, Canadian delegation representatives and Chinese energy experts discussed about environmental protection and the sustainable development of energy industry.

Date: March 26 – 28, 2015 Venue: New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) Organizer: Alberta Government China Office, Ontario Government, Embassy of Canada to China, CNPC-Alberta Petroleum Centre (CAPC) Canadian companies: Advanced Measurement Inc., Calfrac Well Services, C-Com Satellite Systems, Coreworx Project Management Software, GasTops, Master Flo, Mirus International, MWD Planet and Lumen Corporation, Packer Plus (only the seminar), Pioneer Petrotech Services Inc., Pioneer Petrotech Services Inc., Redline Communications, Pajak Engineering Ltd., and U-Target Energy Ltd. Summary: Fourteen companies from Alberta and Ontario, specializing in oil and gas equipment, technology and services, joined Canada Pavilion at CIPPE and received numerous Chinese and international oil and gas companies and visitors. The companies introduced Canadian advantages and expertise in oil and gas equipment manufacturing, engineering and services. On 27th an "Exploring Canadian Oil and Gas Technology Seminar" was held at the exhibition and the exhibiting Canadian companies presented to audience from Chinese oil and gas industry. Officials from Embassy of Canada to China, Alberta and Ontario governments delivered speeches at the seminar.
