Dear Families,

At this time of year, we are formalising our School Council which is an important component of our school. Our School Council election is nearing an end. All ballot papers need to be put in the box in the front foyer by Tuesday the 14th of March. We thank Catherine Booth, Peter Hahnemann and Kate Morton for making themselves available for election. The outcome of our voting will be announced in next week’s newsletter. Our Annual General Meeting for School Council will take place on Wednesday the 22nd of March starting at 7.00pm. The March meeting will follow with some of our drafted planning documents for the year being discussed and tabled. A great deal of planning takes place in relation to meeting the needs of our students and school community early in the year.

The Strategic Plan forms the basis of our Annual Implementation Plan which has been drafted for this year. The AIP covers many areas that are a foci for the school but does not cover everything we do. It reflects the Strategic Plan and the directions of our school into the future. In the coming weeks our Annual Report to our school community will be collated and will be available. Relay for Life Update: Thank you to all of our school community who participated in our Relay for Life events last weekend. We had over 30 members represent Eagle Point Primary School in the Bairnsdale Relay for Life. Our school raised a total of $2,000 towards the Cancer Foundation. A big thank you to Laura Lenartowicz & Belinda Street who were instrumental in promoting both Relay for Life events. Senior School Camp - Canberra 14th of March through to the 17th. Our Grade 5/6 students will travel to Canberra next week. We wish them all the very best for a wonderful camp. Thank you to our staff for accommodating this very important part of the year. Harmony Day Harmony Day will be celebrated on Tuesday the 21st of March. This day is extremely important as we celebrate the diversity of people within our local community. Our past is rich in history where each individual has a special story to tell. On the 21st we will celebrate this occasion by encouraging everyone to wear something recognising their ancestry. This can be in the form of a piece of clothing, a flag or wearing clothes the colours of the national flag of the country you originate from. Paynesville Boat Races - School Fundraiser - Can You Help??? On Saturday and Sunday, the 1st and 2nd of April our school will be providing a BBQ, assisting in catering for the Paynesville Boat Races which is the first weekend of the holidays. School Council is looking for volunteers to help cook, serve and sell on either of these days. All money fundraised will go directly to the school. This is our first call for volunteers to assist in this fundraiser. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please come and see Jo in the office. If you have a few hours to spare on either of these days, it would be fantastic to see you. Whilst this is a fundraiser it is also a great social event with lots of laughter and banter in the tent. A roster will be placed in the open learning area for people to slot their names down from next Tuesday. In the past this has been a real family event where all family members help out. It is a great social event so come along and join in! Easter Egg Raffle run by Junior School Council. Each year our Junior School Council holds an Easter Egg raffle in our school. We ask each family to donate an Easter egg, bunny etc towards the Easter baskets. Depending on how many donations we receive, determines how many prizes there will be. Many thanks in advance. The raffle tickets will go out next week. Money raised will help subsidise our camping program in our school. Parking around our school. Our school continues to grow and so does the issue of safe parking. We ask parents to ensure that when they park their cars that they do so with the safety of all concerned. We are seeing increased risks of children and families crossing the road when there is not clear vision to do so safely. For this reason, we ask all

parents to get out of their cars and pick up their children from inside the school grounds. The last thing we want to see is a major accident that may result in a child or parent being hit outside our school. We ask parents and carers to park in designated areas or park along School Road and walk your children onto the school grounds. A number of cars are parking on the edge of Paynesville Road, forcing community members to walk out onto the road. Please be mindful when you park that there is safe access with people walking past. Thank you for your understanding.
