The Creative Dance Festival is a celebratory weekend of performances by MoCo’s youngest dancers, some just 3 years old! Students are introduced to the exhilarating world of performing arts in our intimate Black Box Theatre. After each performance, the festivities continue on the front lawn, including games, face painting, refreshments and more. “Children will present multiple pieces featuring all kinds of dance, giving them many opportunities to gain confidence in front of an audience,” says Danielle Fitzpatrick, Artistic Director of Young Arts at MoCo Arts and Director of Caterpillar’s Hungry Day. “The weekend is designed to feel like a celebration, not just a recital.” Caterpillar’s Hungry Day, based on the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, tells the story of a very hungry caterpillar, so hungry he eats through increasing quantities of food, eventually becoming a beautiful butterfly. These young students interpret the story through creative movement based on many styles of dance, all while having a lot of fun on stage with their friends. Creative Dance at MoCo is a nurturing and inclusive program that begins for children as early as 18 months. Students develop their creativity, cooperation skills and self-awareness through play, imagination and fun. MoCo is currently accepting registrations for the summer session of Creative Dance available for kids 3 yrs – 2 nd grade. Visit www.moco.org for more information. For a full list of performance times visit www.moco.org or call MoCo Arts at 603-357-2100. Tickets for Caterpillar’s Hungry Day are $10 general.
