The text Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life! is a poem written by george Herbert (1593-1633) entitled “The call” and included in his collection The Temple: Sacred Poems. It is a poetic response to the gospel passage “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” ( John 14:6), beckoning christ to come and enter into our lives. The choral setting is by Harold friedell (1905-1958), former organist of St. Bartholomew’s church in New york city.
