Our pastor, Father John Worster, has asked me to write a message in this Easter Sunday bulletin. It is an honor to do so. My sisters and brothers, I want to tell you a story. It is an Easter story and more than that. There is a legend that somewhere in Jerusalem, in a very old Russian convent, there is an ancient painting which depicts Mary Magdalene before Caesar. This is the story of that legend. She is holding in her hand a red dyed egg, which she is presenting to Caesar as a gift. She tells him that the egg which seems such a humble and poor gift is the best gift she could of-fer because it signifies the death and resurrection of her Teacher and Savior, Jesus of Naza-reth. It is the symbol of truth, the truth of our salvation. Then Magdalene describes in great detail the cruel punishment which Pontius Pilate inflicted on Jesus. Caesar was deeply affected, and promised that he would do whatever was necessary to rectify this terrible situation. History records that Pontius Pilate was removed from Jerusalem and sent to the provinces. Some versions even say Caesar had him executed, although that is not verified. In any case, the Russian tradition connects the fate of Pilate with Mary Magdalene's visit to Caesar. In the Russian tradition, St. Mary Magdalene and the red egg are symbols of truth, and she is called "Mary Magdalene, the holy myrrh-bearer and equal of the Apostles." Peace, Fr. Faucher ¡Felices Pascuas! ¡Aleluya! ¡Jesús ha resucitado! Nuestro futuro y nuestro destino están asegurados. Demos gra-cias a Dios. ¡Felicidades! Su amigo y servidor ~ Padre Jesús Camacho Happy Easter! There is no feast more beautiful and more joyful than the feast of the triumph of the infinite and powerful love of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. There is no better occasion for the gathering of all of the brothers and sisters than on Easter Sunday. There is nothing more en-couraging than to see the doors of heaven, the doors of salvation open for all of humanity. We believe in a triumphant God. We are followers of one God who has opened the path to follow, leading to our final destination: Our Father’s House. This is why we are joyful and we sing happily with all of our hearts and strength: Alleluia! Alleluia! Jesus has risen! Our future and our destiny are secured. Let us give thanks to God. Congratulations! Your Friend and servant ~ Fr. Jesus Camacho
