Congratulations to our 2018 St. Philip’s Spelling Bee Champion,  Olivea Frenzel!

Congratulations also go out to Ashley Maki and Sam Mutnansky for being our runner-ups!

Olivea will head to the Regional Spelling Bee on February 7th. She will take a written test in the morning, and if she qualifies will be a part of the verbal spelling bee in the afternoon. Good luck, Olivea!

Duct Tape Needed!  We are in need of LOTS of Duct Tape rolls! Full or partial rolls and any color or design

will be greatly appreciated! Mr. Fodness has graciously agreed (or perhaps been volunteered) to be duct taped to a chair on Friday morning around 9:30 am in the

gym. $1.00 in coins or a bill will buy a strip of duct tape that the purchaser will then use to help tape him to a chair.

You are Invited to St. Philip’s Parish KOINONIA Retreat

Friday Evening-Sunday Afternoon, Feb. 9-11, 2018

The Koinonia weekend is designed to help men and women grow in understanding,

appreciation and experience of God, Jesus, Faith, Church, Ministry, Scripture and Self.

Here are what people who have attended the retreat have said: “When you hear the

word ‘retreat’, I don’t think the word “fun” immediately comes to mind. I had a lot of fun

on this weekend.” “What amazed me was that I’ve known the people that gave the talks,

but I have not really known them or their stories. One man gave a talk on Prayer and his

talk has changed my prayer life forever.” “The food was great! The team was wonderful. I

was completely taken care of for two and a half days.” “I’ve always known ABOUT Jesus.

This weekend somehow made Him real for me. Now I KNOW Jesus.”

Participants in a Koinonia weekend must be at least 18 years of age. If you live nearby,

you go home at night. Lodging will be provided for those from out of town.

The retreat begins with supper on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and ends on Sunday around 5:00

p.m. Please plan on spending some quality time with members from your faith community.

Casual clothes are worn throughout the weekend and all meals are provided. The weekend

schedule is as follows:

Friday (5:00 p.m. – late evening), Saturday (8:00 a.m. – late evening), Sunday (8:00 a.m.

– 5:00 p.m.), the weekend of February 9th-11th, 2018.

The cost of the weekend is only $30 per person, which includes all supplies needed, as

well as meals. Can’t afford the cost? There are scholarships available, just write

“scholarship” on the registration form; your confidentiality will be respected.

To register please fill out and return the form below by Sunday, February 4th. You

can turn it into the school or parish office, or drop in the Sunday collection basket at
