What is CBSubs™ - setting expectations

A clean paid membership management solution (no hacks) that works over a Joomla (1.5 or 1.0) or Mambo CMS with CB 1.2+ and allows you to implement/configure paid membership use cases that protect / grant-access-to Joomla content (articles, modules, components, menus, etc.) based on ‘plan’ subscription.

Example 1: A Paid Download Club. Three plans: Bronze, Silver, Gold. Bronze grants access to DOCman/Remository downloads for 2 months, Silver grants similar privileges for 6 months and Gold for 12 months.

Example 2: A Paid Support Case. Three plans: Free, Customer, VIP. Free subscribers are allowed to view limited support content and can only read posts in special forum areas. Customer plan subscribers can view knowledge-base articles and can post in special forum area (where Free subscribers can only read). VIP subscribers are granted access to all articles and can also post to VIP forum area (where non-VIP members do not have any access).

CBSubs can integrate with:

DOCman download componentThis means that CBSubs can automatically add/remove a plan member to/from a DOCman permissions group.

Remository download componentSimilar concept as before

CB FieldsThis means that a CB Field value can be set based on plan enrolment. Example ‘cb_plan-A’ field gets the value ‘1’ if member is active in plan A and value ‘0’ when plan A membership expires.

Content elementsThis means you can limit access to any Joomla content element (article, category, section, menu, module, component, even URL based protection).

Virtuemart componentEven though you can sell products with CBSubs™, it is primarily a subscriptions system. Virtuemart has user groups and can present different product prices to different user groups. Plan subscribers can be added/removed to/from Virtuemart groups.
