Cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the US.
Smoking causes more deaths each year than the following causes combined:
• HIV• Illegal drug use• Alcohol use• Motor vehicle injuries• Firearm-related incidents
Quitting smoking before the age of 40 reduces the risk of dying from smoking-
related disease by about 90%

• Since 1996, 173 residential homes have been assisted
• Plan to assist 25 additional properties in 2016 which could be a record year- there were 23 properties in 1997
• Since 2006, $1,302,914 in repairs financed - an additional $450,000 budgeted this year
• Funding is a combination of Community Development Block Grant Funds and EPA Water Pollution Control Loan Funds
• Recipients are low income elderly and families

average of 319.33 miles per person
