CERTIFICATE COURSE IN COMMUNICATIVE GERMAN

The students will understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very simple

sentences, which relate to satisfying concrete needs. Can introduce themselves and others

as well as ask others about themselves – e.g. where they live, who they know and what they

own and can respond to questions of this nature. This course can help students to

communicate in a simple manner, if the person they are speaking to speaks slowly and

clearly and is willing to help.

In order to pass the internal evaluation, the students must secure at least a ‘D grade’ in

8 out of 12 assignments

The successful completion of the certificate course with a minimum of ‘D grade’ shall

be the requirement for the award of certificate by Marian College Kuttikkanam

Autonomous.

The student will be eligible for the certificate only if they pass both internal valuation

and final examination.

If one of the two criteria is not met, the student will not be eligible for the certificate

even if the final grade is greater than or equal to ‘D grade.

On the successful completion of the course, the students will be able to:

1. develop intellectual, personal and professional abilities to use German language;

2. acquire basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in order to

communicate with speakers of German language;

3. acquire the linguistic competence necessarily required in various life situations;

4. listen to basic native spoken German and comprehend instruction like railway

announcements, telephone messages and directions; and

5. express effectively and accurately in simple German about themselves and construct

simple sentences in German using accurate rules of grammar.

All the candidates seeking admission shall register in the admission portal on the

website of Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous (www.mariancollege.org).

Admission for the allotted seats will be based on a "first-come, first-serve basis".

The students will be first admitted provisionally to the course.

Confirmation of admission will be after the verification of the credentials submitted

and a personal interview.

TO confirm the admission advance payment of the full fee is necessary. Fee once

paid will not be refunded.

The total fee of the course will be Rs. 5000, including admission and certificate

No additional postal charge (within India) for the course certificate

The fee does not cover any boarding and lodging fee.

Alphabets, sounds and special characters – Greetings – Numbers and counting– Basic

vocabularies related to daily life

Module 2: Pronouns (12 Hours)

Ms Shilpa Das is working as a language trainer for 8years. She teaches German, French and

English language. With impeccable proficiency in the German language, she teaches

students up to C2 level (German) and provides communication German classes. She has

completed a Bachelors in commerce and a master in commerce from Delhi University. She

holds a C2 level diploma in the German Language from Max Mueller Bhavan- Goethe

Institute Delhi and an advanced diploma in the German language from Delhi University. In

2014, she completed the diploma in teaching German as a foreign language from IGNOU.

Currently, she is running her own language institute in Delhi and working as a part-time

Guest lecturer for the German and French languages. Having a strong knowledge of the

certification courses, she can teach the exact exam pattern which helps her students to

crack the language exams with ease.

Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous was founded in 1995 and is affiliated to the

Mahatma Gandhi University. It is owned by and managed by the Catholic Diocese of

Kanjirappally. Marian was the youngest accredited college in India in 2003 and at present

the college is re-accredited with A grade and CGPA 3.52/4 by the National Assessment and

Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2014. The college won the prestigious status of the College

with Potential for Excellence (CPE) from University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2009 and

2014.

Autonomous is one of the youngest departments in the college. The department offers MA

in Communication and Media Studies, aiming at encouraging a habit of practice-based

learning, endowing the students with a rich subset of talents that would help them excel in

the field of mass media, public relations, new media, event management and advertising.
