Material Management – Change Material Master

Purpose

Request is to change one or more fields in the material master Record.

Fields within the material master can be added and maintained after the initial creation process. Not all fields will be changed. To change a material master record, the data for the view the user wants to change must already be maintained.

Note that to add a view or extend a material to a new plant, the “Create Material” transaction is used rather than the “Change Material” transaction.

Via Transaction Code – MM02

Step 1 Enter the Client number given to you by your administrator.

Step 2 Enter User code.

Step 3 Enter Password.

Step 4 Click Enter.

Note: When logging into SAP instead of this simulation, you will need to use your SAP user name and password supplied by your company SAP Admin. If your company utilizes ‘Single Sign On’ then these steps are irrelevant as you are already signed onto SAP and only need to choose the desired system from the list. Many of the actions associated with the menu paths can be performed from icons, key strokes or using the mouse. This duplication or redundancy is built into the system to meet the varying needs or styles of users. Some individuals enjoy using the mouse and menu paths, some get used to icons easily, some desire keystrokes while others prefer ‘right’ click or ‘double’ clicks.

Transaction Code – MM02

Step 1: Click SAP Menu Arrow.

Step 2: Click Logistics Arrow.

Step 3: Click Material Management.

Step 4: Click Material Master

Step 5: Click Material.

Step 7: Click Change.

Step 8: Click MM02 - Immediately.

Results: The Cancel Materials Document: Initial Screen displays.

Step 1: On the screen ‘Change Material (Initial Screen): enter information using the table below:

Step 3: Check the appropriate boxes for the screens desired to view.

Step 4: Click Enter.

Note: The material type controls which views are displayed. Therefore, specific material types will not contain certain views.

Step 6: Press Enter.

Step 7: On the subsequent screens/views, make the necessary changes.

Step 8: Save the revised material master Record using the “Save” button or use “Ctrl S”.
