CHAPTER 10-11 SKILLTHESIS WRITING

It is an answer to the question. Usually one sentence. Usually at the end of the introductory

paragraph. Approximately 25 words.

Your thesis should be an abridged answer to the question.

It should set up the rest of the essay and the essay should follow the format of the thesis.

Example: ◦ Thesis answer, supporting info A, supporting info

B, supporting info C.◦ Paragraph A with supporting facts◦ Paragraph B with supporting facts◦ Paragraph C with supporting facts◦ Conclusion

It does not restate the question. It does not just give a one word answer.

It is not the entire introductory paragraph. It is not a different answer than the essay

supports.

Who is your favorite college football team? Notre Dame is my favorite football team
