child of earth

Child of Earth 7-24-02 Sister to that of fire, water, and wind, Born of Earth and that of whim’s dance, As old as the trees themselves be, Conceived of the chaos and chance Of nature uninhibited and free. Wild, strange eyes thee hast, Like gentle doe in a moment of fear, Skin like marble or alabaster fair. Savage yet gentle and loving dear, A wolf upon a midnight lair. A child of contradictions, So innocent and so worldly, Oh Child, oh Child of Earth, May you watch over this land carefully, May you guard us and laugh often with mirth. For we are but mortals, None shapechangers like thee will we be. Ages come and ages will go, And throughout time you will forever see The follies of mortals and destruction we sow.

Child of Earth

Child of Earth

7-24-02

Sister to that of fire, water, and wind,

Born of Earth and that of whims dance,

As old as the trees themselves be,

Conceived of the chaos and chance

Of nature uninhibited and free.

Wild, strange eyes thee hast,

Like gentle doe in a moment of fear,

Skin like marble or alabaster fair.

Savage yet gentle and loving dear,

A wolf upon a midnight lair.

A child of contradictions,

So innocent and so worldly,

Oh Child, oh Child of Earth,

May you watch over this land carefully,

May you guard us and laugh often with mirth.

For we are but mortals,

None shapechangers like thee will we be.

Ages come and ages will go,

And throughout time you will forever see

The follies of mortals and destruction we sow.
