In such areas, the Chonghan Wireless device MUST BE POWERED OFF. The Chonghan Wireless device can transmit signals that could interfere with this equipment. Do not operate the Chonghan Wireless device in any aircraft, whether the aircraft is on the ground or in flight. In aircraft, the Chonghan Wireless device MUST BE POWERED OFF. When operating, the Chonghan Wireless device can transmit signals that could interfere with various onboard systems.

Note: Some airlines may permit the use of cellular phones while the aircraft is on the ground and the door is open. Chonghan Wireless device may be used at this time.

The driver or operator of any vehicle should not operate the Chonghan Wireless device while in control of a vehicle. Doing so will detract from the driver or operator’s control and operation of that vehicle. In some states and provinces, operating such communications devices while in control of a vehicle is an offence.

1. Overview

This user guide describes the M1 series wireless modem. The aim of the manual is to ease the test, install and disposition.

Note: Though all features are documented in this manual, new features may still be in beta stage at publication and therefore may not yet be validated. Please refer to the Customer Release Note for complete and detailed information regarding beta and validated features at time of release.

2. Introduction

With the development of wireless communication technologies, wireless products are being adopted in numerous industrial and civilian fields. Shenzhen Chonghan Co., Ltd. a leader of wireless communication equipment manufacturer releases the CH-M1 Series Wireless Modems, which support various frequency bands of GSM/GPRS/CDMA2000 1X, and provide industrial terminal solutions for 2.5G/2.75G communication. As a wireless modem, it support AT command set via RS-232/RS-485/TTL interface.

CH-M1 series wireless modem adopts industrial level modules, specially designed for the complicated industrial environment which compatible with EMC, and will be your best choose of wireless communication.

Assemble the antenna, power adapter, connect the modem to PC via RS-232 serial cable, open

the back cover, insert SIM/UIM card, at last, power on.

Note: Don’t insert or remove the SIM/UIM card in the power on status.

2. Click on the driver installer pkg file to run the driver installation process. Click Continue to proceed and follow the succeeding instructions to complete the installation.

3. At the end of the installation, you will need to restart your computer. Close all programs and

click Restart to complete installation and reboot the system.

4. After rebooting the system, you can now plug the PL-2303 USB-to-Serial adapter or cable to

the USB port. You can first run the System Profile program under the Applications-Utilities folder. Click USB hardware inside System Profile and look for “USB-Serial Controller” or “USB-Serial Controller D”. This means that the hardware device is detected by your Mac computer.

5. You can then proceed to check if the USB serial port device is setup properly. You can run

the Terminal program under Applications-Utilities folder and type the following

commands: cd /dev

ls tty.usbserial*

You should see the “tty. usbserial ” device which means the USB serial device is already

setup properly. If you try to plug another PL-2303 device, you should also see several

“tty.usbserialx” listed where “x” is the assigned device number similar to Windows

COM port assignment.

6. NOTE: Mac OS may also pop-up a new network interface when it detects a new USB-Serial

Controller device. See next section for more explanation.

12.3 Appendix C:Android driver installation

1. Power on your Android device (Android 3.2 and above) with USB host support. Only one PL2303 device is supported.

2. Click check on the Android Sample Test program (app_PL2303HXDSimpleTest.app) to

run install.

3. Click Install when prompted to install the Android app.

4. The PL2303 Android app will start to install.

5. When Application is installed, click OPEN.

6. Plug in the PL2303 USB to Serial device. Click OK when prompted to allow the app to access

the USB device

7. If the PL2303 USB device is detected, the app will pop out a connected status message. If not,

re-plug the device and click OPEN. Make sure you get a connected pop out message.

8. There are two ways to run the PL2303 Simple Test app: Using Loop back Connector:

i. Plug a loop back connector (TX/RX pins short) to the USB-to-Serial RS232

cable. Set the desired baud rate settings.

ii. Click Loop back button

iii. Or type the keyboard on the Write box field and click Write button to send

data (TX pin). Click Read Data button to read the data (RX pin).

Using Null Modem cable and Windows PC and Hyper Terminal program:

i. Plug a serial null modem cable to the PL2303 USB Serial cable and the other end to a RS232 COM port (or another PL2303 USB-Serial cable) of another computer. Run Hyper Terminal program on PC or other serial terminal program and open COM port.

ii. Enter keyboard on Write box field and click Write. Check PC Hyper Terminal program if

data is received. Enter keyboard on Hyper Terminal program and click Read Data button

on Android app to receive data if OK.

To run the Android app again, simply go to Apps folder and look for PL2303HXDSimpeTest app
