We were asked to prepare for 325 delegates, no small task to provide them with coffee, snacks, lunch, directions and of course Parish Church hospitality. Once again, a job well done!

Confession, Absolution & The Peace, page 191 Offertory Hymn O Valiant Hearts

O Valiant hearts, who to your glory came Through dust of conflict and through battle flame;

Tranquil you lie, your knightly virtue proved, Your memory hallowed in the land you loved.

Proudly you gathered, rank on rank, to war, As who had heard God’s message from afar; All you had hoped for, all you had, you gave

To save mankind – yourselves you scorned to save.

Long years ago, as earth lay dark and still, Rose a loud cry upon a lonely hill,

While in the frailty of our human clay, Christ, our Redeemer, passed the self-same way.

O risen Lord, O Shepherd of our dead,

Whose cross has bought them and whose staff has led, In glorious hope their proud and sorrowing land

Commits her children to thy gracious hand.

SAVE THE DATE-THE PARISH GOES UNPLUGGED

On Friday evening, November 25, 6:30 – 8:30 pm, our Mission Within Committee will be hosting a Games Night in the Lounge. We would love for everyone to come and join us for a fun evening as we unplug all our “devices” and enjoy an evening of games and snacks, with a little laughter thrown in. Feel free to bring you favourite board or card game or just take your chances with whatever games show up. It would be helpful for the organizers if you could sign up at the Charlotte St. entrance. See you there.

NEW HOSPITAL POLICY

If you are admitted to the hospital and would like a visit from the Rector or Deacon, please request that hospital staff have your name added to the spiritual care list that our clergy can see when they visit the hospital. The hospital cannot put your name on a list without your explicit permission. You may also request them to call the church office to let us know you would like a visit. The clergy will no longer be permitted to see patient lists unless permission has been explicitly given by the patient.

REMEMBRANCE DAY CANDLE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Light the first candle. One: We light this candle to remember all those who died in the service of our nation in time of war. At the going down of the sun and in the morning... All: We will remember them. Light the second candle. One: We light this candle to remember those Canadians who have died in the service of our country as peacekeepers. At the going down of the sun and in the morning... All: We will remember them. Light the third candle. One: We light this candle to remember those families of our nation who have lost loved ones in time of war. At the going down of the sun and in the morning... All: We will remember them. Light the fourth candle. One: We light this candle to remember the victims of todays’ conflicts around the world, and to pray for peace. All: Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Light the fifth candle. One: We light this candle for the hundreds of thousands of refugees displaced by war who now seek new homelands and a fresh start. All: Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Light the sixth candle. One: We light this candle as a candle of hope that one day, as Micah prophesied so long ago, the weapons of war will be turned into farm implements and nations will no longer prepare for battle. All: Lord, make us instruments of your peace.

Light the seventh candle. One: We light this candle as a candle of love to remind us that God commands us to forgive one another and to be reconciled to one another. All: Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Light the eighth candle. One: We light this candle because we believe Jesus is the Light of the world and his Light shines in the darkness and the darkness will never put it out. All: Lord, let your light shine. Let us bow our heads in prayer. Lord Jesus, thank you for laying down your life for us that our sins might be forgiven, and that you might call us your friends. On this day of remembrance and reflection, we give thanks for all those who have served our nation in war and in peace and have paid the ultimate sacrifice. May their example inspire us to be people who love justice, who protect freedom, and who nurture a spirit of servitude and grace. Priest: And all God's people said together: Amen.
