All seams are 1/4 inch , unless otherwise

noted in instructions

Assume width of fabric = 42 inches

Press seams as indicated

Sew seams with right sides together

Step 1: Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of one 4 7/8

inch square. With right sides of fabric facing each other,

sew 1/4 inch on each side of the diagonal line.

Step 2: Cut along the diagonal line so you have two half

square triangles.

Step 3: Press seams toward the darker fabric.

Sewing Instructions:

Make the Scrappy Block Unit

Step 1: Referring to the diagram at right, sew (8) 1.5 inch squares together and press seams open.

Step 2: Referring to the diagram at right, sew the 1.5 x 4.5 inch rectangle to the right side of the 8

patch unit and press seam toward green rectangle. Make a total of 20 Scrappy Block Units.

Add the Red and White Stripe Rectangle

Step 3: Referring to the diagram below, add a 6.5 x 3.5 inch red and white striped rectangle to the bottom of the Scrappy

Block unit created in Step 2. Press seam toward striped block. Make a total of 20 Scrappy Block/Stripe Units.

Make the Half Square Triangles

Step 4: Using the method on page 2, make 20 red print and black print #1 4.5 x 4.5 inch half square triangles.

Step 5: Using the method on page 2, make 20 cream/black print and black print #2 4.5 x 4.5 inch half square triangles.

Make the Half Square Triangle Units

Step 6: Referring to the diagram at right, sew a 3.4 x 4.5 inch green rectangle to the bottom of the half square

triangle created in Step 4. Pay special attention to the orientation of the red and the black fabrics. Press

seam toward the green rectangle. Make 20 of these half square triangle units.

Step 7: Referring to the diagram at left, sew a 1.5 x 2.5 inch rectangle to a

3.5 x 2.5 inch red rectangle. Press seam open.

Step 8: Referring to the diagram at left, sew a 4.5 x 4.5 inch half square triangle created

in Step 5 to the left of the unit created in Step 7. Press seam open.

Pay special attention to the orientation of the black and the white fabrics. Make 20 of

these half square triangle units.

Sewing Instructions (continued):

Make the Half Square Triangle Units

Step 9: Referring to the diagram at right, sew a 3.5 x 6.5 inch Large Floral Theme rectangle to the

top of the triangle unit created in Step 8 and press seam toward the Bold Floral. Make 20 of these

units.

Assemble the Patchwork Blocks

Step 10: Referring to the diagram at left, sew the two triangle units together and press seam

open.

Step 11: Referring to the diagram at left, sew the Scrappy Block/Stripe unit to the bottom of the

unit created in Step 10 and press seam open. Make 20 blocks. Each block should measure 10.5

x 10.5 inches.

Make Large Patchwork Blocks

Step 12: Referring to the diagram at right, lay out 4 blocks (created in Step 11) as shown

and sew the blocks together. Press seams open. Make 5 large patchwork blocks.

Make Large Floral Theme Blocks

Step 13: Referring to the diagram at left, sew a 4.5 x 12.5 inch white/cream rectangle to

the left and to the right of a 12.5 x 12.5 inch Large Floral square. Press seams toward the

Large Floral square.

Step 14: Sew a 4.5 x 20.5 inch white/cream strip to the top and to the bottom of the unit

created in Step 13. Press seams toward the white/cream strip. Make 4 blocks. Trim

each block to measure 20.5 x 20.5 inches square.

Sewing Instructions:

Assemble the Quilt Top

Step 15: Referring to the diagram at right, lay out the quilt blocks as shown.

Sew blocks together and press seams open.

Step 16: Piece together two 2.25 x Width of Fabric strips to measure 2.25 x 60.5

inches and attach to the left and to the right of the quilt top.

Step 17: Piece together two 2.25 x Width of Fabric strips to measure 2.25 x 64

inches and attach to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.

Finish the Quilt

Step 18: Layer the backing fabric, batting and the quilt top. Quilt using your favorite quilting technique.

Step 19: Sew the 2.5 inch binding strips together and attach to the quilt using your favorite binding technique.
