LiveMusicBenefitforColumbiaHighSchoolMusicParents’Association(CHSMPA)WillFeatureBandsDollarStoreRiot,DotDashandTri-State

inSouthOrange,NJonSaturday,September30SouthOrange,NJ(September22,2017)–TheSouthOrangeElksispleasedtoannouncealivemusicbenefittosupporttheColumbiaHighSchoolMusicParents’Association(CHSMPA.)TheeventistobeheldSaturday,September30th,startingat8:00p.m.TheSouthOrangeElkswillhosttheeventatitslodgebuildinglocatedat220ProspectStreet(betweenFourthStreetandVillageRoad),SouthOrange,NewJersey.Theeventisopentoallmembersofthepublic(ages21andover),andwillhaveaminimum$15per-personadmissionfee.Acashbarwillbeavailable.Ticketswillbeavailableforpurchaseatthedoor.Proceedsfromtheeventwillsupportthecurricularandextra-curricularactivitiesofthemusicdepartmentofColumbiaHighSchoolinband,orchestra,choir,musictheory.ColumbiaHighSchoolistheseniorschooloftheSouthOrangeandMaplewoodSchoolDistrict,includinggrades9through12.“Wearesogratefultoeveryoneinvolvedinthisevent,"saidBarbaraCokorinosandBradKalos,Co-presidentsofCHSMPA.“Weareallvolunteers,andeventslikethesehelpussupporttheColumbiaHighSchoolmusicdepartmentinmanyoftheireffortsinsideandoutsideoftheclassroom.”

DollarStoreRiotwillopentheeveningat8:00p.m.,followedbyDotDashat9:00p.m.andTri-Stateat10:00p.m.DollarStoreRiotandTri-StateareeachbasedinMaplewood,NewJersey,DotDashisbasedinWashington,DC.AboutColumbiaHighSchoolMusicParents’Association(CHSMPA)ColumbiaHighSchoolMusicParents’Association(CHSMPA)isavolunteergroupofparents,whichsupportsandpromotesthecurricularandextra-curricularmusicensemblesoftheColumbiaHighSchool(CHS)musicdepartment.Foundedin1994,CHSMPAwasformallyincorporatedin2006,andreceivednonprofitstatusasa501(c)(3)nonprofitorganizationin2007.Priorto1994,CHShadaBandParents’Association.WiththecreationofCHSMPA,theBandParents’Associationwasexpandedtoincludeallareasofthemusicdepartment–band,orchestra,choirandmusictheory.

Withschoolbudgetreductionsandageneralreductioninfundingfortheartsinpublicschools,theroleofCHSMPAhasbecomeincreasinglyimportanttotheCHSmusicdepartment.FromMarchingBandCampinAugusttospringconcertsinJune,CHSMPAparentsareactivethroughouttheyearinfundraising,encouragingparticipationinmusicactivities,andprovidingphysicalsupportatmusicevents.https://chsmpa.org/

AboutSouthOrangeElks:TheSouthOrangeElksisacharitable,non-profitorganizationthathascontributedtolocalgroups,charitiesandcausesforover100years.WesupportlocalchildrenwithspecialneedsdirectlyandthroughtheElksCampMoore.WecontributetotheveteransatthelocalVAhospitalsandthroughtheElksArmyofHope.OurSouthOrangeElksRentPartyGardensuppliesover1500poundsoffreshproducetolocalfamiliesinourlocalfoodpantries,andwecontributegenerouslytotheSpecialOlympics.Locally,wehostmeetingsforothernon-profits,wecontributetoseveralyouthsportsteamsandorganizations,wedonatetolocalschoolsandPTAs,schoolsportsteams,musicprograms,andweproudlysponsorBoyScoutTroop60.ThemenandwomenoftheElksareallvolunteers.ForinfoonbecominganElkandeventslikeourFirstFridayslivemusic,comedynights,andothersvisitsoelks.comorfindusonFacebook.
