Council President Robert A. Maiocco called the Thirty-First regular Meeting of the MedfordCity Council to order at 7:00 P.M. at the Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium, Medford CityHall.

In this subrogation case, the claimant insurer, Safety Insurance Company, seeksreimbursement for payments made to its insured, Barbara Gedrimas, 7 Apache Trail,Medford, MA, when her vehicle was struck by a City of Medford DPW truck driven by RichardEckert at the paved intersection of Teehan, Spruce, Elm and Cypress Lawns at Oak GroveCemetery. The accident occurred on March 4, 2005. The claim was settled for 50% of thetotal amount of damages/bills paid by Safety Insurance Company which was $18,482.35. Suitwas originally entered in Suffolk Superior Court and was transferred to Middlesex Superior
Court during the summer of 2009. The necessary Releases have been obtained from theclaimant.

Re: Establishment of a Revolving Account, LoConte Rink, Medford, MA
Dear President Maiocco and Members of the Medford City Council:
I respectfully request and recommend that your Honorable Body approve the establishmentof a Revolving Account under MGL Chapter 53E for a maintenance and operatingexpenses, including salary and wages, for the LoConte Rink.
If approved this Revolving Account will support the costs of the regular maintenance for theLoConte Rink along with the operating expenses including salaries and wages. Funds willnot be needed for capital improvements since those will remain the responsibility of theDepartment of Conservation and Recreation under the terms of the Permit Agreement.
Fees collected from ice rentals, donations and the like will be deposited into the RevolvingAccount.
The Mayor will have the authority to approve expenditures from the account and he shallannually report to the City Council on the total amount of receipts and expenditures of theRevolving Account.
