"T Barnsley" sporting/target rifle. Percussion lock, octagonal under ribbed 32 inch

barrel marked "T Barnsley, Maker Grahamstown improved Rigby rifle" . Scroll

engraving to lock. Repaired crack to pistol grip, inlay repair to top of stock, repair

to LHS of fore-end featuring amateur replacement chequering. Horn fore end tip.

Original ram rod. Relatively good bore.

75 Calibre octagon to round 43,75 inch smooth bore barrel. Action was originally a

flintlock which was later converted to percussion. Some pitting to percussion

hammer. Typical two stage trigger mechanism. Brass butt plate, trigger guard and

pipes. Typical stinkwood configuration bobbejaanboud style stock with cheek

piece. Replacement ram rod. Fair to good overall condition.

B6 "Bobbejaanboud" Flintlock Rifle R 14500.00

Lock marked to "IG Ert Amsterdam" Octagon to round ribbed 43,75 inch heavy

rifle barrel. Brass butt plate, trigger guard and pipes. Heavy stinkwood full stock

which also features a cheek piece. Replacement ram rod. A typical early

settler/hunter/voortrekker flintlock bobbejaanboud of superior quality. A few

repaired cracks to the fore end of the stock. Overall good original condition.

Model No. 9 introduced in 1949 featured a Bowie blade with a steel socket, GC.

No.4 Mk2 featured a round blade which contains the muzzle ring and press catch.

GC. SA made variant of the No.9 blade bayonet. It utilised the same blade as the

Uzi bayonet. Scabbard missing, otherwise GC.

Ribbed black plastic grips secured by two screws. Two prongs integral with muzzle

ring act as a flash suppressor. Bayonet was used on early variants of the FN-Fal

which did not have a flash suppressor. Used by both SAP and Rhodesian forces.

Third Reich Nazi army dress dagger. Orange grip with Nazi eagle over Swastika

finely stippled scabbard with carrier. Excellently marked blade marked "Rich. abr.

Hurder. Solingen" . Some very light age blistering to finish on sides of scabbard.

Complete with hangers of aluminium braid on a field grey velvet backing. Hanger

displays it's age. Good plus condition.

Orange coloured grips with grip grooves running the right direction-from high left to

low right. Well defined blade marked "ORIGINAL over squirrel trademark

EICKHORN SOLINGEN". Some very faint pitting/scratching to blade. Loss of

plating to two hangers, rest good.

Eagle and Swastika topping ivory coloured grips. Suspension rings with carrying

accoutrements. Blade marked "E.U.F. Horster Solingen" with etched naval

markings to both sides of blade. Brass scabbard, cross guard & pommel. A few

dings to scabbard otherwise all good original condition.

Walnut grips. Double edged blade bears the customary "ALLES FUR

DEUTSCHLAND" logo and the back side of the ricasso carries the markings of

"ANTON WINGEN Jr. over a knight SOLINGEN" . Complete with short leather

hanger. Well made. Good condition.

C30 Hitler Youth 1933 - Pattern Knife R 2500.00

Left-hand side of 5" single-edged blade marked "E.P & S. over trademark

SOLINGEN GES.SECH. RZM 1939" whilst reverse carries "BLUT UND EHRE"

marking. Nazi swastika within enamelled triangle to handle. Top of handle shows

some wear from fastening strap, loss of finish to scabbard. Expected age related

wear.

Socket Bayonet for Patt 1842 Musket and Patt 1851 Minie rifle. Triangular blade of

432mm curved slightly downwards. Top of the blade marked "crown B8EX" with

an "X" and "JT" below it again. Rack marking of 271 to the socket. No scabbard

but all good original condition.

Circa 1876. Triangular blade of 542mm fullered on all faces top face struck with an

"M" and an "8" . Socket bore of 18mm to front side. No scabbard. Good original

condition.

C36 .303 Patt 1903 Bayonet R 1500.00

For the SMLE rifle. Double edged knife blade of 300mm similar patt 1888. Right

side of ricasso stamped with Enfield and disposal marks. Left side stamped with

inspection marks and 1903. Wood grips secured by two screws, nuts. Oil cleaning

hole in pommel. Blued cross guard with short quillon and finial. Muzzle ring with a

small rear wood extension. Brown leather scabbard has a steel top mount without

frogs stud but with a leather belt frog and small steel chape. Scarce.

C37 Mauser Model KS1898 Bayonet R 4500.00

Fullered blade with saw-back 252mm long and "Crown over Erfurt" to RHS of

ricasso. Chequered black leather grips secured by 3 steel rivets. Cross guard with

swept-back quillion marked "KS 8810.S" , as is mouth of scabbard. Birds head

pommel. KS markings signify issue to Kaiserliche Schutztruppen, German colonial

forces South-West Africa. Some wear to chequering on grips scabbard displays

various dings and scratches and has been polished bright rather than original blue.

C38 Mauser Model KS1898 Bayonet R 4500.00

Fullered blade with saw-back 252mm long and "crown over Erfurt" to RHS of

ricasso. Chequered black leather grips secured by 3 steel rivets, cross guard with

swept-back quillion marked "KS 8810.S ", as is mouth of scabbard. Birds head

pommel. "SCH.D.O.A." markings on cross guard & scabbard signify issue to

Schutztruppen, German colonial forces German-East Africa. Some wear to

chequering on grips. Good original overall.

C39 Mauser Gewehr 1898 B Bayonet R 3500.00

Saw back blade of 252mm with 19 teeth, the LHS of ricasso struck with "crown

over Erfurt" . Wood grips held by two screw bolts. All steel scabbard with frog

stud, finial and leather frog. This is the third model SG84/98 with saw backs. All

steel parts polished bright. This model was used by the cavalry in field artillery and

the engineers. Condition good plus.

"Kurzes Seitengewehr" Model 1898. Standard 250mm blade with 19 saw teeth.

Ricasso marked "E" and "F Horste Solingen" . Cross guard marked

"SCH.D.O.A929" . Scabbard marked "SCH.D.O.A1019" . For colonial

Schutztruppen in German East African. Cross guard with short "reversed" quillon,

wood grips secured by two screw bolts. All steel scabbard with leather frog, frog

stud and finial. Good condition.

C43 Lee Enfield Number 4 Mark I Cruciform Bayonet R 1750.00

Introduced November 1949 the bayonet had a 200mm cruciform blade attached to

steel socket which contains a muzzle ring and press catch. The mark I scabbard

was all steel with a zinc mouth piece. Bayonet is marked "G Crown R Number 4

Mark I SM" . Excellent condition.

C46 Martini-Enfield Saw Back Bayonet R 1750.00

For Martini Enfield artillery carbine Mark I. Saber blade, fullered, with saw back

with 20 double teeth. The right side struck with a broad arrow over WD, a letter x

and various dates. The left side struck with crown VR and various inspection

dates. Hilt has chequered black leather grips with 4 rivets to the right side and 3

rivets to the left side. This model was sometimes called patent 1879 and was

officially discarded in 1903. All steel parts polished bright, no scabbard. All good

original condition.

C47 Whitworth Yataghan Bayonet R 2750.00

Pattern 1863 Whitworth short rifle bayonet. It has a heavy yataghan blade of

579mm with fullers on both sides. The right side of the ricasso marked with "E

over a crown 41" , the left side with "WR under a crown" . Chequered black

leather grips with 3 rivets and a screw and spring on RHS and 4 rivets on LHS.

Pommel with a distinctive round detachment slot for the bar on the rifle's top band.

Black leather scabbard with steel top mount over frog stud steel chape overall

length 584mm. Leather frog present. Only about 500 pieces were made in 1863 for

the Whitworth rifle which was never officially adopted but was used for long term

trials only. Some very light pitting to the pommel and cross guard. Overall good

original condition.

Wooden handle with brass pommel and cross guard with muzzle ring and quillon

with finials. Three rivets and screw securing spring to RHS, four rivets to LHS.

Serial number to RHS ricasso. Makers marks to LHS. 570mm fullered yataghan

Straight 612mm unfullered blade with swelling point and pipe back. Right side of

C50 Elcho Bayonet R 1950.00

Elcho Bayonet for Martini Henry Rifle & Snider Carbine. Bolo type blade with a saw

back and a swelling spier point. Hilt is similar to the pattern 1875 artillery bayonet

with chequered leather grips secured with steel rivets spring to the right steel cross

guard with muzzle ring and quillon. No scabbard. This pattern 1871 bayonet was

developed by Lord Elcho in 1869, the shape of the blade reportedly inspired by

African assegai's and was officially adopted on 8th February 1871. As this

particular piece has no official markings it must be a volunteer bayonet. Scarce.

C51 Yataghan Sword Bayonet R 1500.00

No scabbard. Well marked with WD, broad arrow and other markings. Chequered

C52 French Model 1810 Sabre R 2750.00

No scabbard. This weapon armed the French dragoons and heavy cavalry in the

latter part of the Napoleonic wars. The sword has a straight single edged blade

with two prominent fullers running its length. Brass pommel cap and brass knuckle

guard with 3 additional branches. Various inspection marks to ricasso.

Manufacturers marks to back of blade. Fair to good condition.

C53 Russian Model 1927 Sabre R 2450.00

No scabbard. Based on the French cavalry sword of the Napoleonic era. Russian

Model 1827 Calvary sabre. Has a slightly curved single edged blade of 34,5 inches

with a wide fuller and a brass hilt. The twin languets were not only useful in firmly

securing the sword to the scabbard but also helped in trapping an opponents

sword. Fair to good condition.

with plain border. Fixed lanyard ring to bottom of grips. Number 330 to pistol,

magazine number 321. Complete with very rare steel and leather holster/shoulder

stock, numbered 352. The early numbered Bergman-Mars versions with shoulder

stock are extremely rare with production estimated at less than 1000. At the time

the 9x23mm was the most powerful production pistol cartridge in Europe. Good

plus original condition.

Original Sig Amt military self loading rifle in 7,62 x 51mm Nato caliber. Rifle is

100% original with its integral bipod, original muzzle brake and fold-out winter

trigger. The Sig Amt is highly prized amongst military collectors and is generally

regarded as the "Rolls Royce" of 7,62 x 51mm battle rifles. It is also the ultimate

rendition of the roller-locking action, a concept developed during WW2.

Unfortunately it was so well made with Swiss precision that it was prohibitively

expensive to produce, Fully functional and complete original finish on metal and

wood, matching numbers throughout. Condition is almost-mint, like new, the rifle

seems to have been never used. The package includes the rifle, two 20-round

magazines (one in mint condition), one 10 round magazine, the original sling,

instruction booklet, pull-through and brass brush stored in the pistol grip storage

compartment. A most collectable package for the serious military collector.

F59 7,62mm FN Heavy-Barrel Rifle R 29500.00

A rifle that has come out of Rhodesia and which has the South African Coat of

Arms to the RHS of the receiver to it and also a SADF ownership stamp to the

LHS of the receiver. A number of the rifles used by the SAP and SADF were left

behind when the SA units returned to SA and the Rhodesian armourers were

meant to remove the SADF markings but neglected to do so. This particular model

is known as the FN-Fal 50.41 and is also known as the Falo. It features a nylon

butt stock, a heavy barrel, short wooden handguard, bipod and Nato type scope

base and muzzle brake similar to the standard heavy barrel model. The rfile has a

good bore is in an excellent refinished condition. Very scarce and seldom

encountered particularly with SADF markings.

magazine, 27" barrel with ramp front sight and express rear sight with one

standing and 4 folding leaves, Lyman aperture rear sight mounted on the receiver.

The action is marked "Steyr 1912" and according to Westley Richards records

the rifle was produced around 1913. The barrel is marked "Westley Richards &

Co. London" & "For .256 Cartridge" (British designation for the 6,5x54mm). The

stock has a semi pistol grip with buffalo horn fore end tip, flat top chequering and

steel butt plate and has been professionally lengthened at some stage. Fully

functional and complete, original finish on metal & wood and matching numbers.

Together with its original Voigtlander telescope in original factory quick-release

mounts. Bore excellent, optics good. Condition excellent overall.

Hunting rifle by Charles Lancaster on a commercial Mauser action. 27" Barrel with

ramp front sight with folding protector and express rear sights to 500yds. Action is

"Charles Lancaster London" . According to correspondence the rifle was

produced in 1910 and re-barrelled in 1925 by Lancaster. The stock is high-grade

walnut and has semi pistol grip with flat top chequering. Fully functional and

complete, original finish on metal and wood, very good bore. The 280 Ross was

one of the first high-velocity sporting cartridges and can be loaded to equal the

ballistics of the 7mm rem mag. Brass and bullets are available. A classic long

range antelope rifle of a bygone era.

An 1898 manufactured Winchester M1886 rifle in .45/90 and in a rare

configuration. This rifle features a special order smooth steel shotgun butt plate

and a straight grained shotgun stock and forearm with a straight grip. It has a 26"

round barrel with a half length magazine, a Winchester Express 3 leaf rear sight

with an optional front sight. Less than 1% of production featured this configuration.

All original parts in very good mechanical condition with no repairs. Minor

scratching and bruising, Bore slightly pitted but with sharp rifling.

Conditions of Sale

The following Terms and Conditions as amended by any postal notice or verbal announcement during the sale, constitutes the entire terms and conditions under which the property listed in this catalogue, is offered for sale by Classic Arms and any consignor for the said property that we act for. 1) As used herein, the “bid price” shall mean the price at which a lot is knocked down by the auctioneer, to a purchaser and the term “purchase price” shall mean the aggregate of: a) The bid price, b) A PREMIUM PAYABLE BY THE PURCHASER OF 12,5% OF THE BID PRICE, + VAT at 14% thereon (i.e. a total premium of 14.25%) c) And where specifically stated by the auctioneer VAT at 14% of the bid price. It is recorded that the consignor has authorised Classic Arms to retain the premium payable on each lot as part of our remuneration and that the VAT payable on such premium is in addition to such premium.

2. On the fall of the Hammer the highest bidder will have been deemed to have purchased the lot being offered and to have: a) assumed full responsibility and liability for the ownership of that lot in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein b) to undertake to settle the aggregate purchase price within a maximum of seven calendar days from the date of sale. In the case of all firearms it is specifically recorded that the purchaser is deemed to have assumed full liability for ownership and payment in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein irrespective of the granting or not of a South African Police Services licence or permit for possession of the said lot. All lots requiring licences shall be retained by Classic Arms pending proof of issuance of said licences. Should a licence for any lot, for any reason whatsoever, be declined, then the purchaser may require Classic Arms or a registered arms and ammunition dealer of the purchasers choice to resell such lot on the purchasers behalf. Such sale shall be conducted against the prevailing terms and conditions of the chosen dealer at time of resale and, irrespective of the Auction purchase price, at the price determined in agreement with the auction purchaser and the dealer

It is specifically noted that Classic Arms may in no way be held liable for a shortfall if any, between the auction purchase price and the resale price. Under no circumstances shall any lot requiring SAPS licensing be released to any person or body not duly authorised to be in legal possession of said lot, and unless all monies due have been settled in full and in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein. No lots shall be deemed to have been paid for until all monies due have been delivered in cash or in Bank Cleared funds. All purchases may be paid for in cash, by Master Card or VISA, American Express or Diners Club International, or by cashiers. or Bank Guaranteed Cheque. A further premium of 5% of the aggregate purchase price including VAT thereon will be levied for all Credit or Charge Card settlements. No cashier’s cheque will be deemed to constitute payment until the effects thereof have been cleared into the Classic Arms Trust Account. If the foregoing or any other conditions contained herein are not complied with by the purchaser, in addition to any other remedies available to us and the consignor by law, including but without limitation to, the right to hold the purchaser liable for the purchase price, then we at our sole discretion may: a) cancel the sale, retaining as liquidation costs any amounts paid by the purchaser, b) resell the property.

3. All payments to be made within 7 days. Property sold at auction and not paid for in full or collected, within 4 (Four) elapsed Months from the date of the auction, shall be deemed to be abandoned UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED. The auctioneer reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner he sees fit and recover reasonable administration and/or storage costs from the disposal of said property and/or the purchaser.

No subsequent claim arising from such a disposal shall be entertained and the auctioneer may not be held liable for any losses incurred by either the consignor or purchaser, or any other party, in this regard either publicly or privately and in such event to hold the purchaser liable for all costs including our commission and expenses for both sales, all other charges due hereunder, our attorneys fees and incidental charges. All fees commissions, bid prices and duties not settled promptly by the purchaser in terms of this clause 2 shall bear interest at South African Bankers prime lending rate plus 3 percent from the seventh day following the sale until settlement is received in full.

In the event that a purchaser does not effect collection within four months of the sale date, of any item purchased, Classic Arms reserves the right to charge a storage fee of ZAR 150-00 per calendar month or part thereof. Such fee being payable monthly in advance from the first day of the month within which the four month period shall expire. In the event that the purchaser fails in his obligation to Classic Arms to pay such fee, Classic Arms, may at its own discretion, resell such item to recover such fee. 4. We reserve the right to withdraw any property at any time prior to the actual sale of such property. Unless actually stated by the auctioneer, all lots shall be offered against their catalogued number and no lot shall be divided for sale.

5. We reserve the right to reject any bid. The highest bid acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be deemed to be the final bid price. In the event of any dispute between bidders or, if in the sole opinion of the auctioneer he doubts the validity of a bid, the auctioneer shall have the sole right to determine the successful bid or to re-offer the property in dispute for sale. Our sale records shall be conclusive in any dispute during or after conclusion of the sale.

6. If for any reason beyond our control, including but not limited to, fire, theft, acts of God, or insurrection, we are prevented from delivering the property to the purchaser, then we will be liable only for the sum actually paid therefore by the purchaser and shall in no event include payment for consequential or incidental damages. Classic Arms accepts no liability for any losses of whatsoever nature caused by any legislative changes in regard to the possession, by individuals or bodies, of firearms or ammunition.

7. If a lot is offered subject to a reserve (this being the confidential minimum price required by the consignor) then Classic Arms reserves the right to open the bidding or to bid on the consignor’s behalf in order to protect such reserve.

9. If we undertake packaging or handling of any lots on the purchaser’s behalf it is done so entirely at the purchasers risk. We are not liable for any acts or omissions of carriers or packers including those recommended by us. Such carriers or packers may carry there own insurance and any claims for loss or damage should be addressed directly to them.

10. These Conditions of Sale and the respective rights of the purchaser and Classic Arms, are governed by the laws of South Africa. By bidding at an auction in person, or by agent, order-bid or telephone or other means, the buyer or bidder agrees to be bound by these Conditions of Sale. Any dispute controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement, or the breach, termination or validity thereof, brought by or against Classic Arms (but not including claims brought against the consignor by the purchaser of the lots consigned hereunder) shall be resolved by the parties in 10. These Conditions of Sale, shall bind the successors and assigns of all bidders and purchasers and inure to the benefit of successors and assigns. No waiver amendment or modification of the terms hereof (other than posted notices or oral announcements during the sale) shall bind us unless specifically stated in writing signed by us.

11. Absentee Bids. As a service to those bidders that are unable to attend the actual auction, we may at our sole discretion accept bids in advance of sale by telephone, or in writing on the bidding forms provided in the back of the sale catalogue. Please note that we cannot accept “buy” bids and all bids must clearly state the maximum (excluding buyers premium and any applicable taxes) bid that the bidder is willing to pay. In the event that identical absentee bids are received then the first bid received shall take. We accept no responsibility for not executing an absentee bid for any reason whatsoever. 12. Estimate prices. As a service to our clients, we furnish presale estimates for all lots. These estimates are intended as a guide to current market value and represent no warranty to bidder or seller as to the actual price. Bidding normally begins at 50% of the estimate but the final price may be more or less than the estimate value. 13. Sale Increments. The following increments apply to all lots bid for.
