They will also need to have basic IT skills, be able to work on their own initiative as well as being part of a supportive team and show commitment, drive and enthusiasm. As Premises Manager you will need to ensure that the environment, both inside and out, is maintained to a high standard that guarantees the site is fit for purpose, and safe, thus enabling children to learn to their full potential. The successful applicant will work the following hours: Monday – Friday – 7am start every day and to finish at 6pm to open and close the academy. The hours between are flexible on timings. Pound Hill Infant Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. JOB DESCRIPTION

POST TITLE PREMISES MANAGER

EMPLOYER UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON ACADEMIES TRUST

LOCATION (Academy) POUND HILL INFANT ACADEMY

POST ACCOUNTABLE TO: HEAD OF SCHOOL

POST MANAGED BY: SCHOOL BUSINESS MANAGER

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ROLE To manage the care, maintenance and servicing of academy buildings and grounds To maintain a clean, safe, hygienic and secure site To ensure that all appropriate risk assessments have been carried out, reviewed when required

and adhered to by staff

MAIN TASKS / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1To inspect, monitor, record and maintain Academy building and grounds maintenance standards, including the fabric, fittings, furnishings, furniture, decoration and resources of the buildings, grounds, signage and equipment, including the collection and assembly of waste for collection.

2 To supervise all building and ground maintenance work carried out by External Contractors with strict adherence to Health and Safety regulations

3To manage and be responsible for the setting up, arrangement and dismantlement of furniture and equipment for all ordinary and extraordinary Academy events, e.g. assemblies, school plays, Open Days etc.

4 To ensure, where possible, site access in the event of snow, flooding or other emergency, taking all necessary preventative measures to ensure the Academy is safe for occupancy

5To manage the security of Academy Buildings and carry out security procedures for Academy buildings and grounds in accordance with the Academy’s policy, taking such measures as deemed suitable to ensure the protection of the Academy, e.g. school keys, correct function of lighting and alarm systems

6 To be responsible for the routine and emergency opening and closing of Academy premises and grounds, attending site for out of hours emergencies as required

7 To contact the appropriate services in the event of the following emergencies: fire, flood, critical incident, break-in, vandalism or accident

8 To liaise with suppliers and order caretaking, cleaning and DIY supplies, ensuring supplies are maintained, and receive and / or distribute store deliveries within the Academy

9 To create and monitor a maintenance programme for all equipment used and remove any equipment known to be faulty

10To be involved in the planning of work with outside contractors, obtaining quotes and advising on the prioritisation of site repairs and maintenance. To raise orders with contractors, provide access to and direct / monitor the work of contractors

11 To supervise the Academy Hall Hirers to ensure they are adhering to the terms and conditions of hire

12 To monitor the cleaning team to ensure the carry out their duties as required13 To be responsible for ensuring all Risk Assessments are carried out and maintained

14 To carry out all activities in line with the Academy’s policies for Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunities

15 To participate in professional development activities and performance management activities as required

16To adhere to the school’s safeguarding polices, especially the Code of Conduct, retaining confidentiality regarding all school matters, including those linked to home, pupils and members of staff.

17 To contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
