Co-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (CCA) at SIS!

Dear Parents of Climbers in Grades 4-8,

At Summit we believe in teaching the whole child. We want learning to take place in a variety of formats.

In addition, we want to showcase the interests and talents of our accomplished teachers while

developing your student outside of the classroom. Thus, we are excited to announce Co-Curricular

Activities (CCA) for Term 2 & 3. The program will begin on Thursday 30th January 2020. CCA takes

place within the schedule of a regular school day. Please read carefully.

When will CCA happen? CCA’s will be every Thursday. Traditional academic lessons will be shortened 10 minutes and the last one hour will be added as a CCA period on Thursdays.

What clubs are available? The schedule is available on our website: www.summitschool.ae Visit ‘CCAs’ for further details. The list of clubs are available below (Next page). You will see there are a wide range of activities supporting children’s development in Literacy, Creative and Performing Arts, Home Arts, as well as in health, sport and other curriculum areas.

Limits on clubs For effectiveness, clubs must be limited in size. The activity will determine the number of participants. The goal is to sharpen known skills or introduce new skills in a setting smaller than most classes. Some popular clubs may be over-subscribed, so we ask that you choose 2-3 clubs in order of interest. We encourage Climbers to try something new. All forms will be processed in strict order as they are handed in. Clubs will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. How do I sign up? Please look through the Club Details page carefully with your child and choose at least 3 clubs. Fill in the attached form, remembering to put in your child’s FULL name and class, your name, mobile phone number and mail ID. Hand in the form to the Homeroom teacher before 27th January 2020. No forms will be accepted after 2pm on 27th January 2020.

How will I know my child’s club?

Your child will receive a slip from school, or the Homeroom teachers will be sending the details regarding your child’s club details.

What happens if I hand in my form late? If you hand in your form late, it will still be processed. If possible, we will let you know before starting of CCA. If your child is placed in a club. Please bear in mind that allocating clubs for over 400 students is a time-consuming process.

What happens if a child doesn't want to participate? There will be a study room available and these rooms will be supervised by our teachers.
