276As per Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016 (Mah. Act No. VI of 2017)clause 97, a College Development Committee (CDC) has been established on I st October 2017 to 31 st August 2022,at Atharva College of Engineering. The College Development Committee shall meet at least four times in a year.

MEMBERS: Elected and Nominated members shall have a term of five years from the date of election or nomination. If any vacancy occurs in the office of such member, the vacancy shall be filled within three months by the Principal and the member so appointed shall hold office for the residual term for which the earlier member shall have held the office if the vacancy had not occurred.

Role of CDC

(a) prepare an overall comprehensive development plan of the college regarding academic, administrative and infrastructural

growth, and enable college to foster excellence in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities ; (b) decide about the overall teaching programmes or annual calendar of the college ; (c) recommend to the management about introducing new academic courses and the creation of additional teaching and administrative posts ; (d) take review of the self-financing courses in the college, if any, and make recommendations for their improvement ; (e) make specific recommendations to the management to encourage and strengthen research culture, consultancy and extension activities in the college ; (f) make specific recommendations to the management to foster academic collaborations to strengthen teaching and research ; (g) make specific recommendations to the management to encourage the use of information and communication technology in teaching and learning process ; (h) make specific recommendations regarding the improvement in teaching and suitable training programmes for the employees of the college ; (i) prepare the annual financial estimates (budget) and financial statements of the college or institution and recommend the same to the management for approval ; (j) formulate proposals of new expenditure not provided for in the annual financial estimates (budget) ; (k) make recommendations regarding the students’ and employees’ welfare activities in the college or institution ; (l) discuss the reports of the Internal Quality Assurance Committee and make suitable recommendations ; (m) frame suitable admissions procedure for different programmes by following the statutory norms ;

(n) plan major annual events in the college, such as annual day, sports events, cultural events, etc. ;

(o) recommend the administration about appropriate steps to be taken regarding the discipline, safety and security issues of the

college or institution ;

(p) consider and make appropriate recommendations on inspection reports, local inquiry reports, audit report, report of National Assessment and Accreditation Council, etc. (q) recommend the distribution of different prizes, medals and awards to the students. (r) prepare the annual report on the work done by committee for the year ending on the 30th June and submit the same to the management of such college and the university ; (s) perform such other duties and exercise such other powers as may be entrusted by the management and the university.

IEEE Techithon’18

Theme Name :Essentia (Eonian elements)

The theme proposed for this year is “Essentia”. This theme revolves around the idea of

Renewable Energy, Sustainable Development and all branches pertaining to it.

In IEEE we aim to increase awareness amongst the students regarding planet Earth and its

issues by creating solutions to real world problems that will affect our planet in the years to

come.

Many projects were displayed during the Event such as Laser Data Transfer , Vertical Windmill

And Unidirectional Speaker, Solar Panel, Traffic Laser And Traffic Tracking, Water quality

monitoring system, Fire detection using wireless senor network, Solar powered auto irrigation

system, Metal Organic Frame Work.

Some of Technical Events such as Technical Project Exhibition, Technical Paper Presentation

Robo wars, Poster Presentation, Codex, Web designing were also conducted.

Along with Technical Events some Fun Events such as Neon cricket, Neon football, Strongman

events, Dota (lan event), Fifa(lan event), Counter strike (lan event), Need for speed (lan

event)etc were held.

innovative project Competition Smart India Hackathon-2019 by providing innovative ideas to several companies

This time from Atharva College of Engineering, total 5 teams got selected for the grand finale event of Smart

India Hackathon-2019 out of which 2 teams won the competition under complex problem Statement of rupees

STAFF TRAINING CENTRE (STC), ACE

Abstract: The STC organizes various FDPs for growth and development of faculty members, to

provide an excellent platform to faculty members from various disciplines in developing competence

and understanding recent advances in research, to discuss and build an ecosystem for improving

quality of engineering education with external faculty experts from Industry and Academia.

Introduction: STC believes in planning, adaptability to latest trends in education, research, innovative

pedagogies, developing professional skills and in achieving excellence in performance. Every year STC

organizes various FDPS for training faculty members in different disciplines like Importance of punctuality,

planning, attending the priority, Invention creativity and Innovation, Introducing teaching for understanding,

Using open source technology, ethics, entrepreneurship, higher studies and personal growth.

Activities in Academic Year 2018-19:

A] Four days Training program were organized on “Leadership style and leadership skills” which

consisting of various activities and presentation skills, program was conducted by miss. Supriya Shriyan

(Corporate Trainer).

B] Training on “Training Need and Analysis” were organized, and simultaneously conducted the

presentation, training was conducted by miss. Supriya Shriyan (Corporate Trainer).

C] On 18/01//19 FDP Session was conducted on “Teaching Learning Process” by “Prof. K. G.

Narayankhedkar” (Ex-DIRECTOR, VJTI, Mumbai)

IQAC Report

Atharva College of Engineering, Malad (W) has constituted Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC) to develop a quality

system for conscious, consistent and catalytic programmed action to improve the academic and administrative

performance of the college. It was established on 28th July 2015 with view to promote measures for quality enhancement

and sustenance. IQAC helps to maintain and sustain quality parameters of the institute in every aspect of academics.

During academic year 4-5 meetings are conducted which are being attended by members, faculties, students and alumni.

The institute’s prime focus is on high academic performance, through outcome based learning and evaluation process.

Learning is made student-centric through series of lectures, seminars, presentations and industrial visits.. Research and

Development cell is an integral part of the activities of Institute. This cell is one of the wings of the Institute which

facilitates, channelizes, records, and regulates all the academic, sponsored, collaborative research projects in the Institute.

The Institute is closely working with core industries to train the students in this direction. Various technical and social

activities are conducted to groom them as social engineers.

Events Conducted by Ember Entrepreneurship Cell in Year 2018-2019

Idea Box Generation Workshop:

Ember Entrepreneurship Cell of Atharva College of Engineering conducted an Idea Box under the guidance

of Prof. Mohan Kumar – Ember E-Cell Faculty Head and Mr.Ashish Haldar,Co-founder ApnaBookWala on

the occasion of E-WEEK’19 highlighting and inspiring young entrepreneurs and their creative mindset.

This workshop was attended by aspiring Entrepreneur students. It commenced by Prof. Mohan Kumar’s

address to the students highlighting the need and importance of an entrepreneurial mindset. The main motive

behind organizing this event was to inculcate a creative mindset in students, to develop their self confidence

and possibly, to give wings to their out of the box business ideas.

The students were seated in groups and every group was provided with a chart paper wherein they were told

to jot down their respective business plans. Everyone dove into their discussion with great gusto and ended

up thinking pretty interesting ideas.

After the initial discussion, each team was told to pitch their respective ideas before the present masses.

Many students actively participated and questioned the validity of the ideas presented. They also came forth

with various implementable solutions to the problems presented by some ideas.

The workshop completed with Prof. Mohan Kumar’s address to the students specifying various ways to

generate funds like bootstrapping, competitions, etc and the importance of good convincing skills. He further

highlighted the importance of a sound and able business plan and the will to never give up on oneself.

All the students who attended the workshop were greatly

inspired and vowed to actively work on their respective

ideas in the near future.

E-Cell Activity

Business Mela is an event where the students can sell their products and services to the crowd which

comes at the fest. The students are given stalls for an affordable rate of ₹500/- for whole week.

The students can sell their products or services and get appropriate feedback from the faculty,students and

other people who visit their stall. The students in Eweek19 event were selling food products,their self

published book, their own clothing brand etc. The participants said the event was playing a vital part in

testing and feedback of product and also played a defining role in final evaluation of the product.

The concept of the event was applauded by Honourable Shri.Sunil ji Rane Sir,ExecutivePresident AGI,Dr

P.N.NemadeSir, Director AGI,Dr.S.P.Kallurkar,Principal,ACE, Col.Sudhir Raje Sir and other dignitaries.

The prize was given to students who had good sales, kept cleanliness, got good feedback and popularity of

their product and services

Innovation Mela 2019: Atharva College of Engineering successfully organized “Innovation Mela” on 14th March, 2019. The program was a grand success under the guidance of Hon’ble Shri Sunil Rane sir, Executive President of Atharva Group of Institutes, Dr. Pravin Nemade sir, Director of Atharva College of Engineering and Dr. Shrikant Kallurkar sir, Principal of Atharva College of Engineering. The event was appreciated by prominent dignitaries Mr. Sanjay Jotwani(Director, Cognitio Knowledge), Mr. Ashok Sharma(Director, Business Development & HR, Innovationext), Mr. Suvendu Prusty (Founder Director and Principal officer at Riskcovry) and Mr. Shailendra singh(Asst. Director MSME, Govt. of India).

A commendable participation of more than 120 participants was observed. The event displayed an exemplary set of innovative ideas through 28 business models and 19 posters, which covered various domains like AR/VR, IOT, Embedded systems, Solar enabled based, Image Processing, Machine Learning, Fashion Technology and many more.

1.QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

Date: 19th &20th July 2018

Speaker: Prashant Chandanshive.

Description: The students were given information about frequently asked questions in aptitude exams

conducted by different companies. The cut-offs of various companies were discussed. The speaker

taught some shortcuts/tricks for some complex calculations. Various questions and queries were

solved.

Description: The speakers pointed out the importance of learning different programming languages,

other technical aspects that are necessary to survive in the current industry and through CSI all the

students of FE would be able to learn all these skills. Also they were given a brief glance of what CSI

did these past years by showing them a well prepared presentation of all our workshops conducted in

our college.

3.GIT AND GITHUB Date:29TH August, 2018.

Description: The workshop started with the speaker giving an introduction about GIT and GITHUB,

what is GIT, what is GITHUB, why is it used, how is it used etc. The students were then asked to

install GIT in their respective PC’s and were given a step by step explanation of creating a account in

GIT.

4.INTRODUCTION TO PROGRAMMING WORKSHOP

Description: The workshop was conducted for students of all the branches. The workshop introduced

the students about basic concepts of C programming language. The students were asked to compile the

program using relit website. Students were given the idea of logic building.

Description: The software used in this workshop was UNITY. In this workshop the students developed

a game from scratch. It was a successful workshop and the feedback was positive.

6.BRITISH PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE

Description: There were total 5 participant teams. The CSI Atharva Committee organized a British

Parliamentary Debates a preliminary round for Tech Next 2019, the annual technical conference of

CSI, Mumbai at IIT Bombay. There were 3 rounds in total consisting of 5 teams of 2 members each,

competing in each round and two winners from each round qualified for the Finals.

7.ANNUAL MAGAZINE

This magazine is started by CSI-Atharva this year . The students will get An opportunity to get

featured in the official magazine of CSI-Atharva and publish their articles and papers in the magazine.

Names of the students will be displayed in the magazine and they would be credited for the same.

8. IOT

Students of the IT department had a competition based on their IOT projects .All of them received

certificates for the same. The best one was rewarded.

Annual Cultural Festival 2018-19 (RHYTHM)

Atharva college of Engineering’s Annual Cultural week was held from 10th march 2019 to 16th march 2019.

Whole event was divided into day and night events naming Marathon, Dance, Drama, Fashion, Street Play,

Singing etc. Event was Inaugurated on 10th march at time of Marathon which had theme “Run for Equality”.

On 11th march street play, pubg(1v1), CR, and drama was organized. On 12th march Neon cricket, neon

football, poetry, and Dance were held. On 13th Carom, mini militia(5v5), Poetry and Fashion were conducted.

Singing, Live night was conducted on 14th march. Prom was held on 15th march. Annual week winded up by DJ

night on 16th march where Ali Merchant was present.
