INVESTIGATION:On 04-20-99, at about 1245 hours, I contactedWade Alan Frank, a student at ColumbineHigh School, who had come out ofthe school and was near the command center. Witness Frank told me that he had been at Columbine High School when theshooting began, and Iaskedhim to givemethe details ofwhat hecould remember. Witness Frank advised at about 1130 hours,he andhis friend, Tyler Jackman, were in the lower parking lot on the Senior side getting ready to leave the area for lunchWitness Frank said he got out of class at about 1115 hours, and it was shortly after that he was in the parking lot. WitnessFrank said he heard a popping sound coming from the top of the stairs, which are on the west side of the school, which headup north to thewest entrance of the school. Witness Franksaid he looked that way and saw a kid running towards the soccerfield. Witness Frank then saw a girl fan against the curb in front of the patio located on the southwest corner of the schoolWitness Frank said he then saw a white male in a dark trench coat standing at the top of the stairs. Witness Frank described.m as a white male, 18 years of age. 6'02", with dirty blondhair. Themale was wearing a black baseball cap backwards, orpossibly a knit ski cap. Witness Frank said initially, he thought that the male might be a student by the name o (unknown last name); however, said that his friend, Tyler Iackman, told him it was Dylan, another student who's last namehe doesnot know, Witness Frank said he cannot bepositive that it wasDylan, but said it was eitherDy l an - " unknownlast name),

Witness Frank said the male atthe top of the stairswas also carryingwhat looked likea sawed of fshotgun. Witness Frank thenwatched asthe male walked from the top of the stairs with the sawedof fshotgun in front ofhim partially obscured by the longdark colored trench coat. As the male walked down to the bottom of the stairs on the west side of the school, witness Franknoticedtherewas another male layingon the pavement 10to 15feet fromthe bottom of the stairs. Witness Frank said the malewith the gun then walked down to the bottomof the stairs and walkedright up to the male who was laying at the bottom of thestairs. The male with the gun then looked around and then shot the male laying on the pavement inthe mid orupperback withthe sawed of f shotgun. Witness frank said that he and witness Jackman were standing approximately 50 feet away in theparking lot due southwhen this occurred, and that he could see smoke coming out of the sawed of f shotgun. Kelly said that he remained at the Seminary until 1050 hours on 04-2099, and then returned to Columbine High School, arriving at approximately 1100 hours. Kelly said that when he reachedColumbine High School, he entered the cafeteria through a door, which is located south of the Commons area and south of the"Rebel Comer" store. Kelly told me that when he entered this door. he walked north bound. past the "Rebel Corner" and thenturned to his left, which would have been west, following the south side wall and windows of the cafeteria, Kelly said that hewalked along the southern windows and then turned to his right. (north) and selected a table, that is in the middle of the cafeteriafrom north to south and just east of the west side windows of the cafeteria. I showed Kelly a diagram of the Columbine HighSchool cafeteria and he showed me which table he had selected.
