The Fog Sculptures If you haven’t seen this exhibition, it will be open through October 31. Walk among the immersive sculptures, which are on display in the Back Bay Fens, Olmsted Park, Jamaica

Pond, the Arnold Arboretum, and Franklin Park. Soft clouds of fog will appear from dawn to dusk, shifting their shapes over the course of the day to react to wind patterns, hu-midity, temperature, and gravity. The largest and most complex public art installa-

tion within Emerald Necklace is created by Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya as a “conversation with nature” and aims to enhance the natural features of the outdoor spaces.

Harvard Neighbors’ Fall Appeal

Mass MoCa Museum at North Adams

Housed on a restored 19th century factory campus, MASS MoCA is the largest center for contemporary visual and performing arts in the country. It’s open year round with a full schedule of live events, changing exhibitions and the Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing Retro-spective. In a vast, rambling set of industrial buildings, the Mass MoCa has become one of the most ex-citing places in the US to experience contemporary art. The buildings are large enough to accommodate installations of an immense scale, but there are also works of quiet intimacy. While you’re there, be sure to check out the outdoor exhibits; they’re unusual and provide fabulous views of North Adams. Don’t miss a visit to another museum gem near by—The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA. The collection of the Clark features European and American paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, and decorative arts from the Renaissance to the early twentieth century. The collection is especially rich in French Impressionist and Academic paintings, British oil sketches, drawings, and silver, and the work of American artists Winslow Homer, George Inness, and John Singer Sargent.

Smith Campus Center is Officially Open! Established in 1962, to meet and greet visitors from all over the world the mission of Smith Campus Center is to serve as the “front door” to the University by provid-ing historical and general information about our cam-pus to visitors, neighbors and the public. Now, after two years of renovations it is officially open and features an amazing enclosed garden of plants native to New Eng-land, living walls sprouting vines and leafy greens, and glass walls looking out onto Dunster St. and Holyoke St. The main floor is called Harvard Commons, and will be the location of lunchtime concerts and evening talks,

lectures and performances by Harvard students, faculty and staff. The Moise Y. Safra Welcome Pavil-ion and Plaza will hold a box office for University events and campus tours. In addition to these public uses there are seven new dining options open to students and the public, Harvard guest Wi-Fi access, and a roof garden open to the public until dusk. There will also be meeting spaces for Harvard com-munity members. The top floor is called Riverview Commons and Conference Suite, which includes a lounge and game rooms, and dining space available for Harvard members only. Be sure to check it out!
