Welcome

Welcome to Our Community KitchensGet to Know Our New Resident Foodie, Pamela Hawkins

Five years ago, my job as a magazine editor and photographer took me from California to New Jersey and New York; I left the redwoods, the Pacific Ocean and the foggy rain-soaked

winters for traffic jams and snow-covered roads. While that surely was an adventure, I am very excited that my new job as the North Coast Co-op’s Outreach Coordinator has brought me back to the place I adore, doing something I love.

To say that I am excited about my new position here at the Co-op is putting it lightly. I have had a love affair with food for a very long time. Being the oldest of five kids, I can cook for an army, I have a special place in my heart for Graber Olives, and fresh farm-to-table ingredients make me swoon. I also have been in love with this area of the country ever since I originally moved here in 2003. That might have something to do with the weather, bike riding on the bottoms and the exceptional farmers markets, but it also has a lot to do with the Co-op.

I have taken a lot of classes at both the Arcata and Eureka Co-op Community Kitchens myself. Now that I will be on the other side of the cutting board, so to speak, I am excited about the great people, talented chefs and yummy food that I will get to experience!
