The launching of the Pahang State Foundation was graced on September 29, 1983 by His Majesty Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Ibni Almarhum Abu Bakar Riayatuddin Muadzam Shah, who was the King then.

The main mission of the establishment of the Pahang State Foundation is to bring about improve-ments in education, sports and culture and to avail opportunities of education among the citizens living in this state.

The Pahang Chief Minister, YAB Dato' Sri Wan Rosdy Bin Wan Ismail, is the Chairman of the Board of Trustee. In its effort to achieve the mission and vision, the Pahang State Foundation has established its subsidiaries - YP Plantation Holdings, UCYP, Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang, YP Hevea Sdn. Bhd., YP Mining Sdn. Bhd. and YP Land Sdn.Bhd.

University College of Yayasan Pahang, formerly known as Kolej Yayasan Pahang (Taman Gelora) is capable in meeting, introducing and executing significant courses listed by the country in efforts to producing the catalyst for human capital. Since 1992, theinstitution that belongs to KYPEducation Sdn. Bhd. has offered the short courses like ACCA, LCCI, ABE and IAW. Apart from UCYP, KYP Education Sdn. Bhd. also comprises of KYP (Indera Mahkota) and KYP Advanced Skills.

In 1994, UCYP commenced its both international and local collaborations. At that time, UCYP offered local programmes in collaboration with University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

While in 1998, KYP Advanced Skills (KYP-AS) added National Vocational Training Council (MLVK) programme by Ministry of Human Resource that offered courses like Hotel Industries Apprenticeship Scheme (HIAS),Computer System, Fashion, Bakery, Automotive and Plantations.

With the wide and vast exposure as well as lengthy experiences gained by UCYP, in 2001, the college (at that time) then developed home-grown programmes and internationalacademic collaboration with Napier University, Heriot Watt University and

The new phase of UCYP has begun in 2008 by the transformation of the institution as an International College. In the period of change, the manage-ment planned to have a new campus and the facility development started in Tanjung Lumpur in 2012.

In year 2015, UCYP initiated a Smart Tahfiz Programme that was offered to religious school leavers. The main aim is to produce a generation of huffaz who are knowledgeable and skillful.

Along with the construction of the new campus and facility development, the college (at that time) has gone through a rebranding process and decided to be known as Kolej Yayasan Pahang in 2016. After two (2) years of the transformation, the college has managed to upgrade its status into a University College in 2018 and now known as UCYP (University College of Yayasan Pahang).

RECOGNITIONSAll UCYP programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). Quality education at UCYP is further underpinned by the college's compliance with the requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the constant monitoring carried out by the university and its partners. Organization for standards and quality such as SIRIM has also evaluated and recognised the academic quality of our academic programmes. UCYP managed to get the recognition by the Ministry of Educa-tion of the People’s Republic of China and listed on the China’s JSJ website. UCYP also managed to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Alumni Council of China (MACC) and Beijing Informa-tion Science and Technology University (BISTU).

Faculty of Science, Engineering and Agrotechnology comprises of various fields related to science, technical and technology namely information technolo-gy, mechanical engineering, civil engineer-ing, agriculture, plantation, construction management and maintenancemanagement. INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FORISLAMIC CIVILIZATION (IIIC)

International Institute for Islamic Civilization (Institut Peradaban Islam Antarabangsa) is an institution of teaching and learning that offers both graduate and postgraduate programs like Diploma, Degree, Master and Doctor of Philoso-phy (PhD). In addition to that, International Institute for Islamic Civilization (IIIC) encourages research activities, training and dissemination of knowledge in the Ummatic Studies and Islamic Civilization through four (4) scientific fields: (1) Ummatic and Islamic Politics Studies (Pengajian Ummah dan Politik Islam); (2) Islamic Thought & Socio-Cultural (Pemikiran Islam & Sosio Budaya); (3) Economy and Islamic Management (Ekonomi dan Pengurusan Islam); and (4) Science & Technol-ogy, Environment and Health (Sains & Teknologi, Alam Sekitar dan Kesihatan). CAMPUSUCYP @ Tanjung LumpurUniversity College of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP) future campus encompasses a fresh twist of architecture that is characterized by the concept of sustainability. The modern and functional design of acilities surrounded by green and rich landscapes, complemented by tranquil lake view strike the balance between UCYP conducive environment and the healthy, active and genuine campus life.

The impressive integrated building or the University by the Lake com-prises of a wide and spacious student centre that allows academic, commer-cial, social and leisure student activities. More than just a campus, the integrat-ed building will be the nurturing ground for an energetic and dynamic UCYP community. Located near Yayasan Pahang Complex, the new UCYP building is expected to be completed end of 2019.

TRANSPORTATIONTransportation services provided by UCYP create a less stressful commuting experience for the students. The services are not only offered during theregular duration of academic session, the transportation also supports the routes for educational outdoor activities and shuttle transportation to Kuantan city.

ACCOMMODATION

Within the campus area, the UCYP two-block student accommodation offers 98 rooms that allow 1000 students presence at one time. The residents of the buildings are equipped with a wide range of facilities that include musolla, cafes, grocery outlets, laundry service and spacious corners for student discussion and leisure. Besides that, the indoor and outdoor courts for sports and recreational activities encourage active, enjoyable and healthy student

Located at the centre of Kuantan city, CCRC captures people’s attentions for its colourful presence. The buildings are restructured and designed to meet the needs of its residence – Early Childhood Education students. Like any other accommodation, CCRC is equipped with DIY laundry facility, student centre, musolla, guest house and others. The building can accommodate about 350 residents at one time. Its strategic location in the city offers convenience and optimum accessibility to students’ positive and balance social

IMRC is located approximately 5 km radius from KYP Indera Mahkota Campus. The buildings can accommodate 250 students at one time. Its strategic location enables the students to enjoy a ten-minute ride to class. While the spacious student centre on the ground floor is meant for leisure activities and group discussions. Apart from that, the air-conditioned rooms made the student living more conducive, hence stimulating a tranquil off campus learning ambience. In addition to that, IMRC is surrounded by com-munity infrastructure such as banks, restaurants, stationery shops, gadget outlets and many more. The nearby infrastructure reduces the tense to travel to the city and time is utilized for quality learning activities.

ACADEMICUCYP is committed to providing high quality and market driven academic programmes. With the strength of more than 140 experienced andcompetent academicians - thirteen (13) PhD holders and more than fifty per cent (50%) Masters’ holders, the college offers an overall of twenty two (22) diploma and bachelor programmes. By the end of 2019, UCYP aims to achieve eighteen (18) PhD holders and 60% Masters’ holders among the total teaching staff.

UCYP strongly supports and provides incentives to the academic staff who are inclined in research, paper presentation and publication activities.

These elements are crucial for their career enhancement but mostimportantly, through these related academic works, academicians are able to enhance their knowledge in related disciplines so as to uplift their quality of teaching materials. Apart fromparticipating in paper presentations, the institution has also organized the local and international conferences, for example International Conference on Islam and Higher Education and International Conference on Sukuk and Islamic Instrument with collaborative partners.

Besides the diploma and bachelor degree programmes, UCYP has taken the initiative to conduct value added and continuing educational programme for existing students and adult learners. Among the objectives of these short term programme are to equip thelearners with additional knowledge and skills in related areas as well as to expose them to current technology, and work processes applied in the industries. At present, UCYP has more than twenty professional and continu-ing educational programmes.

In the quest towards achieving an overall excellent academic perfor-mance, an academic advisor is assigned to each student to ensure that the students have their point of reference and obtain relevant academic consul-tancy, should they encounter any problems during their studies.

Post programme appraisal is conducted every end of semester and the analysis serves as a guideline for the academic team to implement appropriate, preventive and corrective actions for examination results improvement. Today, University College of Yayasan Pahang has produced 59% graduates with CGPA 3.0 and above with 99% passing rate.

WoC programme is a dedicated section that provides support and assistance to the students in terms of career placement, internship and employability related services. In addition to that, WoC coordinates the placement of current students to undergo a practical training and internship to the related industry in order to equip students with valuable skills and knowledge before they graduate.

WoC is developing a special method of delivering careerdevelopment services (CDS) that is embedded into the learning program. The CDS enable the students to be exposed to the real experience of seeking jobs. It includes interviews, resume development, online job applications, development of a positive outlook and communication skills. The ultimate goal of WoC is to increase employability rate of our graduates from six (6) months to only 3 - 6 months.

BACKGROUNDThe setting-up of the educational fund is the brainchild of the UCYP Chancellor, Her Majesty The Raja Permaisuri Agong with the objective of providing financial aid to underprivileged students.

On 10th October 2019, UCYP submitted application to the Legal Affairs Division in the Prime Minister’s Department for the inceptionof the Board of Trustee YAYASAN TUANKUCANSELOR UCYP. On 23rd December 2019, the application was made successful under the Act 258, section 2(2).

YAYASAN TUANKU CANSELOR UCYP is a non-profitable fund. It aim to provide financial and material aid to underprivileged students in the quest to achieve their dreams anddesires. Contribution in cash and in kind are welcomed.

As an added advantage to donors, YAYASAN TUANKU CANSELOR UCYP has submitted to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia for the application of tax relief under Income Tax Act 1967, section 44(6) which states the deductions for benevolent activities.
