• The DC Rollergirls are a women’s non-profit roller derby league that brings its hard-hitting, rough and tumble skate action to Washington DC from September to May each year. A volunteer-run organization founded in 2006, the DC Rollergirls are the premier women's flat track roller derby league in the national capital region. The league consists of four home teams (Cherry Blossom Bombshells, DC DemonCats, Majority Whips, Scare Force One), and two travel teams (The DC All-Stars and our B-Team, The Capitol Offenders).
• The home teams compete against each other at the DC Armory and the Dulles Sportsplex, while the All-Stars battle for WFTDA international rankings across the country.

Play In A Day
Six professional Washington, D.C. area theatre companies will write, direct, rehearse and perform original plays based
on similar themes in only 24 hours. The plays will be presented at the 12th annual Play In A Day, a one-of-a-kind
theatrical event.Play In A Day kicks off on Friday evening, February 19th
where playwrights and directors come together to receive their assigned themes and props. Playwrights then work
through the night to create their ten-minute masterpieces. As the sun comes up, rehearsals begin as teams of directors and actors prepare anxiously to make the 8pm performance
deadline on Saturday, February 20, 2016. ** Please note some material is not suitable for children.

SFZ Salon Series –Brahms and BunchFebruary 20, 2016

A fusion of classical, contemporary and experimental chamber music in an intimate
setting, the "sfz salon series" is named after the "Sforzando," (sfz) a strong, sudden accent on a note or chord. This series encourages a creative
dialog between artists and audience. Each program features distinctive wines paired with the
music of the evening. Join us for an evening to remember.
Gaithersburg Arts Barn
In partnership with Montgomery Playhouse, Arts on the Green presents A Grand Night for Singing, a
Broadway tribute showcasing the music of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.
The show runs February 12 through 27, 2016, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at the Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square
Road. An additional matinee takes place on February 20 at 2 p.m. Admission is $22, $12 for children 14 and
under. This show is recommended for ages 12 and older.
Washington DC Celebrates Black History Month 2016
Washington, DC celebrates Black History Month each February and remembers the contributions of
African Americans in the United States with numerous events and cultural programs. Here are some special events and relevant places to visit in Washington, DC to remember and recognize the
history of Black Americans.
Black History Month Cruise Aboard the Spirit of Washington -February 20, 2016. Take an educational and entertaining lunch cruise to remember those who have influenced African-American culture. This cruise will feature DJ in tribute to Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye, Roberta Flack, Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, Diana Ross, Prince and much more. The cruise boards at 11:00 a.m. and cruises from 11:30
a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $49.90 per adult, $29.95 ages 3-12.
Carmen: An Afro-Cuban Jazz Musical

The show brings the action of one of the most sensual stories of all time to Cuba on
the verge of revolution in 1958. The passion-fueled opera is a sexy, swinging
Afro-Cuban Jazz musical. Kaufman’s Carmen is a gun-runner for the rebels, who falls fiercely in love with José, a Batista loyalist. When Cuba’s boxing
legend Camilo returns to Havana, Carmen and José’s love falls tragically apart.

millennium with a look inside Reading, PA where a group of close friends shares
everything: drinks, secrets and laughs. But when rumors of layoffs shake up the local steel

waves across two generations.

This emotional and enduring family drama by Tennessee Williams features Southern matriarch Amanda who frets
constantly over her two live-in adult children—the painfully shy Laura and
Laura’s restless poet brother, Tom. With great cajoling, Tom brings home a
possible suitor for Laura, but reality soon casts a shadow on Amanda’s
dreams for both her children.
