Children’s church needs your help! This valuable ministry is one of the best ways we can teach our youngest members the importance of Jesus in their life. Through games,
lessons, crafts, and activities, the people who volunteer for this important ministry are impacting the lives of tomorrow's church leaders. You can volunteer to serve one Sunday every month, every Sunday for one month per quarter, or if you don't feel like leading but want to help, you can sign up for that too. Contact the church office at 575-622-1881 for more information.

WALKING IN FAITH
In What Are You Afraid Of? Facing Down Your Fears With Faith (Tyndale House), David Jeremiah describes Englishman John Pounds (1755-1839) as an example of facing debilitation with faith. While working at the docks as a teen, Pounds fell from a ship’s mast. Recovery took two years. Out of boredom while bedridden, he began reading the Bible and soon accepted Christ. Once well enough, Pounds worked for a cobbler and later bought his own shop, making orthopedic shoes for disabled children. His own body had healed crookedly, resulting in constant pain, so he could identify with the people he served. Pounds also fed homeless children, taught them to read and told them about Jesus. “What might John Pounds have become had he not been severely injured?”Jeremiah asks. Our struggles often enable us to empathize with and help people we wouldn’t have met otherwise. Through our weakness, God can minister to others (2 Corinthians 12:9).
June is right around and the corner. That means it is time
to make plans to join us for the 3rd Annual Friends of
Cowboy Bell Scholarship Dinner on Sunday, June 14. The
evening will begin with a reception at 5:30 in the Narthex
and Gallery followed by dinner, catered by Pepper’s, at 6
o’clock in Fellowship Hall.
We already have six students and their parents who have
reserved seats. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to
meet them and see firsthand the impact this long-standing
outreach of our church has on students from all over the
area.
This past April the committee reviewed applications from
Artesia, Lake Arthur, Dexter, Hagerman, Roswell High,
Goddard, and Gateway Christian School. A total of 226
awards were made for the 2015-16 academic year.
The committee continues their efforts to expand the pub-lic’s awareness of the scholarship. The annual Friends of Cowboy Bell Scholarship dinner is establishing itself as a dependable means of spreading the news. Please make plans now to join us. But, also remember, it is a fundraising effort and we therefore ask each attendee to make a donation. We recommend $50 per person.
