1) Auto-Assign option

Yes distributes HW and Quiz assignment due dates evenly across teacher-specified timeframe. These dates can be adjusted afterwards.

No allows the teacher to manually assign due dates to the copied assignments—either individually or on a batch “change due dates” page.

1) Assignments: Due Date auto-settings

Sample Quizzes

Note: Unlike homework, Quizzes & Tests are “Available” to students by default. Teachers can “Set Availability” to change this.“Available” is different from “Assigned.” “Available” means that the assignments are available to the student with default settings, no due dates, and results will not be factored into the student's overall score. “Assigned” is when a teacher copies & assigns the assessment in order to set preferences, due dates, and include results in a student’s overall score.

You can link a Readiness Assessment to Readiness Additional Practice - or a Review Assessment to Review Additional Practice. In both cases, the exercises in the Practice set are determined by the student’s performance on the corresponding assessment.

Select “Edit” from the Actions drop down menu for the Additonal Practice assignment.

Making Personalized Assignments

Page 20: Connected Mathematics 3 skills & remediation option:

On Step 1 of the Edit Homework wizard, check “Yes” to omit questions from objectives that are mastered by the student on the corresponding assessment.

Select the appropriate Readiness Assessment (in this example Unit 6-1), then click Save or Save & Assign.

This pick list will show sample tests that the teacher has already copied.

Personalized Assignments: Step 1

Page 21: Connected Mathematics 3 skills & remediation option:

After clicking Save on the previous screen, you will see a dialog box about question selection. Be sure to click “No” on this screen. (Clicking “Yes” will reduce the number of exercises in the practice assignment.)

NOTE: if you click “Yes” by mistake, delete then re-copy the sample assignment to start over.

Personalized Assignments: Step 2

Page 22: Connected Mathematics 3 skills & remediation option:

Student View: After the Readiness Assessment & Additional Practice assignments are made available to students, they will see that the practice assignment has a prerequisite (indicated by the green flag). In this case the Readiness Assessment is the prerequisite, so must be completed first. Upon completion of the Assessment, the green flag will vanish.

Tip: By default, the Additional Practice assignment is listed before the sample test in the Assignment list. The teacher should use the Reorder Assignments page to change the order (if they haven’t already) so that the formative Assessment is listed first, as shown here.

Personalized Assignments: Student View 1

After the Readiness Assessment, students can also access their Additional Practice assignment directly from their test summary page. Exercises available in the practice are determined by their test results.

Personalized Assignments: Student View 2

Note: Practice Exercises are suppressed if topics are “mastered” in the Assessment. “Mastery” thresholds, which are set at a default of 100%, can be modified by the teacher in the Study Plan Manager.
