DIVINE WRATH 1• The consequence is not mild but vigorously and punitively• In Ephesians 5:6• “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of

such things, God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.”

* It is not just because you have sinned against Him but because of His holiness.

• God Loves us so much as it is written in John 3:16 but in John 3:36, God acts upon Judgment

36 ”…And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”

GOD LOVES US but there must be Justice

LOVE vs JUSTICE

GOD’S WRATH Man wants to escape

15 Then everyone—the kings of the earth, the rulers, the generals, the wealthy, the powerful, and every slave and free person—all hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 And they cried to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. 17 For the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to survive?”

Revelation 6:15-17

BECAUSE…• 9 Then a third angel followed them, shouting, “Anyone who worships the

beast and his statue or who accepts his mark on the forehead or on the hand 10 must drink the wine of God’s anger. It has been poured full strength into God’s cup of wrath. And they will be tormented with fire and burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. 11 The smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever, and they will have no relief day or night, for they have worshiped the beast and his statue and have accepted the mark of his name.”

Rev. 14:9-11

DEATH 2• Romans 5:12

“12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned”

• Romans 8:10“10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life* because you have been made right with God.”

Death is given as a penalty of sinPeople physically can walk yet dead spiritually

HOWEVER…• John 6:50“50 Anyone who eats the bread from heaven, however, will never

die.”• John 5:24

24 “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.• John 8:51-52

51 I tell you the truth, anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!”52 The people said, “Now we know you are possessed by a demon. Even Abraham and the prophets died, but you say, ‘Anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!’

SIN IS EXISTENCE OVER CONDEMNATION

• 16 And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.

…18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.

Romans 5:16, 181 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:1

…AND ALIENATION FROM GOD1  Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save

you,nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call.

2  It’s your sins that have cut you off from God.Because of your sins, he has turned away

and will not listen anymore.Isaiah 59:1-2

•3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and

inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s

anger, just like everyone else.12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from

citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant

promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and

without hope.Ephesians 2:3, 12

DEPRAVITY, DEGRADATION AND DEATH

• These three are all products of sin • And the sin, when fully grown, brings forth death as being said in James

1:15

“15 These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.”

WELL, WHAT REALLY IS THE NATURE OF SIN?

•Sin is never wholesome, but always poisonous

never constructive, but always destructive.

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF SINS WE COMMIT:

• Sin of the spirit- envy, bitterness that divides men and then, men may become

defiled 15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. James 12:15• Sin of the flesh-

Produce personal and social decay as in Gal. 6:88 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

2 peter 1:4“4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great

and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”

James 4:1-2“1 What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they

come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.”

Without Grace, humanity is not an improving but a degenerating race.

SINthe only thing that God looks bad about man is

That is the reason why Christ came-to overcome sin

Sin is the enemy of God because sin exalts the

adversary and dishonors God.

SIN IS THE CAUSE OF EVERY UNHAPPY HOMES, DIVORCE,

WARS, QUARRELS, GRAVEYARDS AND

TOMBSTONES.
