Conspiracy is a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful

Mat 28:11 While the women went on their way, some of the soldiers guarding the tomb went back to the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened.

Mat 28:12 The chief priests met with the elders and made their plan; they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers

Mat 28:13 and said, "You are to say that his disciples came during the night and stole his body while you were asleep.

Mat 28:14 And if the Governor should hear of this, we will convince him that you are innocent, and you will have nothing to worry about."

Why this conspiracy make no sense.

It was a serious offence for a guard to lose its prisoner.

Act 12:19 Herod gave orders to search for him (Peter), but they could not find him. So he had the guards questioned and ordered them put to death. (16 of them :4)

If the soldiers were asleep, how would they have known what had happened to the body of Jesus?

And why would they admit “sleeping on the job”?
