In the R21 phase, we will develop and pilot the intervention and evaluate effects on PA; the R33 phase we employ a randomized design to determine effects on PA, family and clinical outcomes compared to a standard BMT program for children with ADHD. and Young Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors The goal of this project is to conduct a RCT using the infrastructure of the Children’s Oncology Group to test a multi-level intervention that combines a Fitbit wearable physical activity tracker (intrapersonal level), an online social media peer support group (interpersonal/community), and individualized goal setting (intrapersonal) into a mobile health (mHealth) intervention designed to improve adolescent and young adult cancer survivors’ physical activity, biomarkers of cardiovascular health, and quality of life. Role: multiple-PI T32 (mPI: Coker, Tumaini and Mendoza, Jason) 07/01/2020-06/30/2025 1.2 calendar months NIH/NICHD annual direct costs $478,000 Child Health Equity Research Program for Post-doctoral Trainees (CHERPP-T) CHERPP-T is a mentored, research project-based training program that provides didactic training in rigorous health services and clinical research methodologies, experiential research training, career development, opportunities for community-academic partnerships, and a long-term network of mentors, collaborators, and partners. The program will focus heavily on recruiting trainees from underrepresented racial/ethnic minority groups (URM) by leveraging existing relationships with predoctoral and early career URM pipeline programs for academic pediatricians. Health equity research will be defined as work that aims to improve or examine outcomes defined in the NIMHD Framework. Doctoral level trainees will develop an independent research career focused on achieving health equity across multiple domains and levels of influence on health, and acquire skills to improve health outcomes at the level of the individual, family/organization, community, and population.
