Production companies produce the film, and distribution companies advertise it for the public. These are conventions of an opening sequence.

Introduction To The Main

Character

This shot introduces the audience to the main

character, Bridget Jones. As and audience, we

become familiar with what she looks like, and later

recognise her as the main character in the film.

Setting

This establishing shot shows the audience where the film is set, and

what time phase it is in. Also, the use of this shot avoids any

misunderstandings further along the movie.
