Noel Lynn Wilson passed to his heavenly home on Nov. 28, 2019. He was surrounded by family and friends. Lynn was born in Abilene, Texas on May 7, 1943 to Noel and Billie Marie

Wilson. His birth was part of a front page story regarding the “Stork Being A Busy Bird” as multiple births were reported at both Hendrick Hospital and St. Ann Hospital, who raised a flag signaling the birth of identical twins, Lynn and Lloyd. The Wilson family lived in Buffalo Gap until 1951 when they moved to Arizona. The family now included a younger brother Leslie. They settled in Kelvin and the boys all attended school in Ray. Lynn enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1962. He was stationed in New Iberia, LA and Corpus Christi, TX where he served as a flight line trouble shooter. He loved his time in the service and often said, “If they would let me, I’d do it all over again.” He spent his working career in Seattle, WA as an ironworker out of Local 86, retiring there in 2001. His hobbies included his dedication to church work, watching college and professional sports, traveling, and reading western novels by Zane Grey and Louis L’amour. He was a “people loving person” who knew no strangers and would talk to anyone,

making many friends along the way. He was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church in Abilene, TX. He served as a Deacon, Stephen Minister and Sunday School teacher at several Presbyterian churches here and in other cities. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Abilene, a member of Christian Men’s Network in Dallas and Point Man Ministries in Tacoma, WA. Lynn is survived by his wife, Kay Tate Wilson; children, Joey Wilson of Des Moines, WA, Darcy Wilson of Burien, WA, Caroline Garshak and husband Royce of Bartow, FL, Paula Mikkelsen and husband Steve of Mill Creek, WA, and Craig Tate and wife Mary of Plano, TX; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his twin brother, Lloyd Wilson and wife Marie, younger brother, Leslie “Duke” Wilson all of Kelvin AZ; sister-in-law, Judy Vicknair of Tuscola, TX, brother-in-law Ronnie Gill and wife Dianne of Buffalo Gap, TX. He has one surviving aunt, Lola Maxwell of Abilene, TX and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents, Noel Bane Wilson and Billie Marie Stockton Wilson, preceded him in death. His memorial service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. at First Central Presbyterian Church in Abilene with burial in the VA Cemetery, under the direction of Girdner Funeral Home, Abilene, Texas. Memorial gifts may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, First Central Presbyterian Church, both of Abilene, or the American Cancer Society.

Are you ready for “Sweater Weather?” There are only three days until the Electric Light Parade Saturday, Dec. 7. Are your lights in working order and are the batteries charged? The parade line up is at the area by the Teen Center with

smaller floats lining up in front of Kearny Town Hall and larger floats will line up on Jamestown starting at 5 p.m. with the parade starting at 6 p.m. and ending at the GKI. Since it is dark at 5 p.m. it is hard to have to write last minute notes for the MC, therefore it is important to have

a legible script ready at parade lineup. Uptown on Alden there will be vendors with their homemade items which make great gifts. There is no charge for the parade entries nor for the vendors. Just let Alyssa know at the Chamber office for vendor space.

Khloe Gilliam was first this year to mail her holiday wishes to Santa Claus. The three-year-old writes: “Dear Santa, I would like a barbie house with a slide. I also would like a doggy barbie house and two puppies. <3 Khloe”. Khloe is the daughter of Kelly and Kristina Gilliam of Kearny. Copper Basin children can mail their wishes to Santa in the two special mailboxes in the area: at the Hayden Library (at the Hayden Senior Center) and in front of the Copper Basin News office in Kearny. This year, Mr. Claus has given us permission to accept letters through our Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/CopperArea). Just send us a message (PM) with your child’s letter to Santa. Hurry and get your letters in quickly so they can be forwarded to the North Pole in plenty of time for the big day. The deadline to mail letters in Santa’s special mailbox is Dec. 13. Santa needs time to get all the requests fulfilled. Letters will be published on Dec. 18.

Two Central Arizona College Aravaipa students will have a little help with their ongoing studies in welding thanks to the American Welding Society. Late last month, a group of students from the welding class attended the 2019 Welders Without Borders: Welding Thunder team fabrication competition at the West-MEC Buckeye Southern campus. During the event a number of college students were interviewed as part of the selection process for an American Welding Society scholarship. Two of the welding students were selected to receive a scholarship. Welding Technology degree majors Morgan Bray and Dakota Willis, both former Ray High School CVIT CTE dual credit welding students, were selected based on their outstanding interview with AWS District 21 Director Samuel Lindsey. Both are student members of the recently formed Central Arizona College Aravaipa American Welding Society Student Chapter and the SkillsUSA organization. Morgan is the chapter secretary and Dakota is the chapter treasurer. Both will receive $1,000 to help them to continue their welding studies at the CAC Aravaipa campus program. The team self-funded their appearance at this competition

with additional financial support from the UA Pipe Trades local #469 in Phoenix and the generous support of Professor and Mrs. Colton. The students from CAC AVC competed with 15 other college and high school welding programs from around Arizona to fabricate a functioning go Go-Kart at this two day event. The team, with support from CAC welding faculty at Aravaipa and Signal Peak campuses, earned a silver rating at the event. The students are graded on the safe performance of multiple welding processes, required cuts needed to shape and weld the Go-Karts at the event from a set of plans they provided. All welding is performed outdoors using portable shop equipment they brought to the event. All work to be completed in the event parking lot, powered off of an engine drive welding machine alongside of the other teams. This is the eighth year for this event which is a youth build event that is part of the global mission of Welders Without Borders founded in 2000 by Professor Samuel Colton. Congratulations to Morgan and Dakota on their scholarships and congratulations to the whole team on your outstanding silver win.

The much anticipated big storm hit Arizona like a freight train after midnight after Thanksgiving. For residents of Kearny, it truly was a black Friday with power being out throughout Kearny starting at 6 a.m. and ended around 2 p.m. for the majority of the customers. Storm related damage to a transformer caused Arizona Public Service to lose an electric feed that is owned by another utility company is what caused the eight-hour outage. At one point Arizona Public Service had 28,000 customers without power throughout the state of Arizona due to the storm. The National Weather Service reported that multiple tornados touched ground in the Valley and ADOT closed many of the roads in Northern Arizona. Fortunately U.S. Hwy. 60 and Highway 177 and 77 were able to remain open and plows kept rocks off the roads. Another mild storm is expected on Wednesday.

Caring for Your Health With Quality, Efficiency, & Compassion

What is Hyperbaric Wound Therapy? Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized room or tube. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a well-established treatment for decompression sickness, a hazard of scuba diving. Other conditions treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy include serious infections, bubbles of air in your blood vessels, and wounds that won't heal.

In a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber, the air pressure is increased to three times higher than normal air pressure. Under these conditions, your lungs can gather more oxygen than would be possible breathing pure oxygen at normal air pressure. Your blood carries this oxygen throughout your body. This helps fight bacteria and stimulate the

release of substances called growth factors and stem cells, which promote healing. Conditions for Treatment Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used to treat several medical conditions. And medical institutions use it in different ways. Your doctor may suggest hyperbaric oxygen therapy if you have one of the following conditions: Anemia, severe Brain abscess Bubbles of air in your blood

vessels (arterial gas embolism)

Burn Decompression sickness Carbon monoxide poisoning Crushing injury Deafness, sudden Gangrene Infection of skin or bone that

causes tissue death Non-healing wounds, such as

a diabetic foot ulcer Radiation injury Vascular wounds Skin graft or skin flap at risk

of tissue death Wounds that won’t heal

During Hyperbaric Therapy Hyperbaric oxygen therapy typically is performed as an outpatient procedure and doesn't require hospitalization. If you're already hospitalized and require hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you'll remain in the hospital for therapy. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the air pressure in the room is about two to three times normal air pressure. The increased air pressure will create a temporary feeling of fullness in your ears — similar to what you might feel in an airplane or at a high elevation. You can relieve

that feeling by yawning or swallowing. For most conditions, therapy lasts approximately two hours. Members of our health care team will monitor you and the therapy unit throughout your treatment. After Hyperbaric Therapy You may feel somewhat tired or hungry following your treatment. This doesn't limit normal activities. Call the Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Wound Center for more information regarding Hyperbaric Wound therapy.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Now Available at the CV Wound Center!
