    CourseobjectivesThecoursegivesanoverviewofthebasicsofmechatronicsystemsandproductsincludingthecomponentsandcharacteristicstypicalforsuchsystems.Thecourseintroducesamechatronicsdesignprocedureandprovidesinsightintobothadvantagesanddifficultiesofmechatronicsdesign.Theoverallaimisthatthestudentsinrelevantsubsequentcourseswillapplythisdesignprocedureandinastepwisemannerdeepentheirproficiencyinusingit.Aftercompletionofthecoursethestudentsshouldbeableto:

    1. Describethebasicbuildingblocksofmechatronicsystems(e.g.hardware,software,communication,interfacing,sensing,controlandactuation).

    2. Discussifamechatronicdesignmightbefeasibleasasolutiontoagivenfunctionalproblemformulation.
