Mr. D K Goswamy Program Coordinator introducedSpeaker and Subject:

“Just a small survey. How many of you have come to geta Tee Shirt? Who have come to know about ‘conflictmanagement’? You may say yes for both. There is noconflict. We see conflicts on rise in our day to life.Whether it is home, family, vendors, religion or politics. It is my way or highway.

Democracy divides. I would say that it has becomemother of all conflicts. 2014 elections BJP got 31% voteshare and garnered 282 seats or 52% of the seats.Congress got 19% votes but could get only 44 seatswhereas with the same proportional vote share theCongress should have got 172 seats. The interesting partis that Trinamul got 4% votes but 34 seats. BJD & ShivSena with just 2% votes got 20 & 18 seats whereas BahanMayavati’s BSP got 4% votes but could not open theaccount. With the same calculations, BSP should havegot 37 seats. Now, 2 crore 30 lakh voters could not getany representation. Whereas, many green horns withjust around 3 to 5 lakh votes could open their account.

Democracy divides. Votes divide. The better way is todevelop consensus. Discussions, dialogues, agreements, disagreement but listen. To listen and engage. Theconflicts would remain but we should find ways to reachto a peaceful consensus.

Often we dictate terms to the vendors. Often it is a one-way communication. Often, we enter into a situationswhich causes conflicts. Today, we have with us Mr.Anurag Mehta with us to talk to us on the subject of‘conflict management’. Mr. Mehta is a PGDMS from NISChandigarh. He is an eminent Corporate Trainer andCoach. He is founder at Teenage Wisdom. He earlierworked with Neesa Education Pvt Ltd, MAAC – Satellite,Kotak Mahindra Bank, Citibank, Reliance Capital AssetManagement, GE Countrywide & GSK ConsumerHealthcare.

Mr. Mehta has a blend of both – an illustrious corporatecareer capped with training and developmentassignments in a variety of industries.

We could feel the flavor and depth of knowledge whilelistening to him on the topic of the day “CONFLICTMANAGEMENT”. We face conflict at workplace, home, friends.

To deal with this topic needs an extra ordinary skill; whichwe were lucky to have in with Mr. Anurag Mehta. He hasmade today’s topic very easy to understand by givinglive examples. We are going back with some useful take-away.
