A Message from the GRDC PTO President

Welcome to the 5th Annual Crab Feed and Auction. We are

excited to have you join us tonight. When the PTO hosted the

first crab feed five years ago, we knew it would be a success,

but none of us could imagine that it would grow into the

must-have ticket for the best Gold River event of the year!

One of the benefits of the GRDC Crab Feed is how it pulls

together our community with the common goal of supporting

our students’ education. There are countless volunteer

hours by parents and teachers. We have received

sponsorships and donations from both our school

community and greater Sacramento-area businesses. Words

cannot even begin to express how much we appreciate

everyone’s support to make this event a success. Thank you,

Robin Mena for chairing this year’s event. You have been

wonderful to work with. Many thanks to all members on the

2018 Crab Feed Committee! Your dedication and energy is

impressive.

The GRDC PTO provides school enrichment programs,

teacher prep funds, field trip funds, library funds, music

funds, art funds along with fun family programs. This is just

a brief list, but none of this would be possible without your

continued support. So have fun, and bid BIG!

Let’s make tonight the most successful crab feed!

Sara Langford

President

Rules Governing Auction

1. Bid Sheets: All items in the silent auction have bid sheets with them.

If you want to bid, do so by writing your name and bid number on the

sheet.

2. Each item has a specific bid increase amount. Bids which do not meet

the minimum raise will be scratched by the marshal.

3. Use the top-most blank line. Each new bid must be written on the

next line available on the bid sheet. Your signatures and/or bid number

constitutes a legal contract to purchase the item.

4. Guests may begin bidding immediately upon entering. When a table closes, the last valid bid to be entered will be the winning bid and will be

circled by the marshal.

5. In the event of a dispute, an auction official shall act as the final

authority and shall determine the winning bid.

6. Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and services must be used with one (1) year of the date of the auction.

7. Items must be removed the evening of the auction (February 10,

2018).

8. For federal income tax purposes, the amount of your contribution that

is tax deductible is limited to the excess of the total amount paid for the

items over the estimated fair value.

9. NO SUCCESSFUL BIDDER MAY RETURN ITEMS TO THE

MERCHANT/DONOR for a refund or exchange of any item. ALL SALES

ARE FINAL.

10. ITEMS ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE OR TRANSFERABLE, NOR

CAN THEY BE EXCHANGED FOR CASH.

11. OUR DONORS graciously donated homes and cabins for your

pleasure. Kindly contact the donors soon after the auction to make

reservations, so that ample time may be allowed for setting a mutually

convenient date. Kindly leave cabins/homes in an orderly condition.

12. Auction packages that are not listed in this printed catalog will still

adhere to the rules governing auction.

Should you have any questions regarding these rules, please contact Sara Langford (PTO President) or

Robin Mena (Crab Feed Chair).

Do you LOVE to drink fresh water? Or perhaps enjoy the use of reusable

water bottles for a convenient way to stay hydrated? Then we need your help

with the purchase of two Elkay Water Stations. These water stations will

provide students and faculty with sanitary, no touch, sensor activated fresh

water to refill water bottles or get a drink of water. The plan is to have one

water station mounted in the multi-purpose room for lunch goers and another

mounted to replace a current drinking fountain on our GRDC campus. The

PTO understands the importance of fostering a healthy environment for the

GRDC community and this is why moving toward a drinking station with a

water bottle filling station is this year’s Fund A Need. We are looking forward

to having them installed in 2018. With this Fund A Need, we hope to

continue enhancing our campus by providing these Water Stations. Adding

these elements will ensure a step in the right direction to healthier choices.

Please join us in supporting this year’s Fund A Need – Water

Stations

DESSERT DASH

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Dessert Dash cards are on each table. The cards have

an empty space for the bidder number and the amount you are willing to pay for dessert.

2. Complete your portion of the Dessert Dash card and

pass to the next person at your table.

3. The auctioneer will make an announcement to finish

up the Dessert Dash cards. An auction volunteer will walk around and pick up all the cards.

4. Once all the cards are collected an auction volunteer

will tally the total bid amount from each table and provide the results to the auctioneer.

5. Dash! As guests finish their meals, the auctioneer will announce that it’s time for dessert and reveal the table with the highest combined bid amount. That

table will send their designated “dessert dasher” running to the dessert table to collect a tasty treat.

6. There’s no time to dawdle! When the first dasher is

halfway to the dessert table the auctioneer will announce the table with the second highest

combined bid amount, then a guest from that table will dash to claim a dessert, and so on until all of the tables have been called.

7. Plates and utensils for your dessert will be available at the Dessert Dash table.

8. Enjoy your desserts while the Auction Volunteers

enter the dessert card pledges into the auction management system. You will pay at the auction

check out for the desserts as you would your other auction winnings.
