The creative industry is a leading exemplar of social development with significant growth potential that con-nects culture, art and gen-eral creativity with other sectors of the economy. It is an industry which com-bines skills, talents and creativity, but also has significant potential to cre-ate new values, work places and generate significant prof-it through the mobilization of individual resources.

The development of crea-tive industries impact upon various other fields, be they economic, geographical or cultural. Nowadays, an econ-omy’s growth can certainly be measured by the level of development of its crea-tive industries. Creative entrepreneurs should there-fore expect myriad challeng-es whilst developing their business: they will need great acumen to fully real-ize the commercial potential of their creativity.

So that more creative entre-preneurs survive first years, which are critical in busi-ness, it is necessary to ap-proach this problem institu-tionally. Just as there are supporting institutions for the development of entre-preneurship in general, in our opinion it would be very helpful if there are insti-tutions that serve as a sup-port to creative entrepre-neurs. Creative Industries Centre Varaždin for (CKI) is the first in the region, established to identify and develop such creative poten-tial. The CKI is located in a restored military bakery in Varaždin, and this old tenement building has been rejuvenated by the spirit of its new creative tenants. It is here that creative entre-preneurs have access to a solid entrepreneurial in-frastructure and business environment, which provides professional guidance and mentoring on beneficial terms during a project’s incuba-tion period.

She represents herself at solo and group shows, participates in various projects to promote tourism and culture and col-laborates with visual artists and photographers. Working with materials di-verse as taffeta, organdie, silk, eco-fur, woollen cloth, jute and knitwear, she pro-duces raincoats, coats, vests, stoles, scarves, belts, hats, bags, curtains, designer cush-ions and tablecloths…Excerpt from a rich resume:Two years of work experience, Ksenija Vrbanić Design Studio, Čakovec.Showroom Optujska as Fifth Av-enue, photo-performance with guests.Design and manufacture of gar-ments for Varaždin tambura or-chestra performance in Vienna.Design and production of cos-tumes for Dad, Grab Me a Moon, a children’s choir, Štiglec.Design and manufacture of gift bags made of jute with prints of oil paintings, painter Bobić, 39 Baroque Evening. n ‘Era of the Free Hand’ Asso-ciationFounded in late 2009, its re-mit was to make old crafts interesting and modern using tried and trusted techniques to produce the new, modern and urban. With its name, ‘Era of the Free Hand’, the association is an expression of the mem-bers’ attitudes to life, and delivers the following messa-ge: express what you think and feel through your work, with free hands, a full heart and an open mind. The association brings togeth-er creative people who work beautiful handicrafts alone in their homes, and they do not know how to share them with the world.

The association organizes workshops where people can share knowledge with others and motivate them to cre-ate crafts. The aim of work-shops, courses and seminars is to encourage the devel-opment of creative problem-solving approach in children and adults. During the creative process, the creator develops a sense of satisfaction through which they can channel negative emotions and release everyday problems, as well as develop-ing the ability of nourishing their interests for life and the world. The association promotes their work through websites, social networks and other media associations. They are interested in the preservation of traditional crafts and anything related to wool, yarn, fabrics (felt-ing, knitting, sewing…), wood (making, restoration, paint-ing furniture ...) and other natural materials. Restor-ing old items they encourage creativity and in that way save a few old items from be-ing forgotten. They take care that their work is unique and that has at least a little artistic value. Besides that, ‘Era of the Free Hand’ participates in urban culture in many other ways.

She participated in the acad-emy project “Winter on the Island” for which she was awarded the Rector Prize. In the Project Land art, a visual expression of chil-dren with special needs, Lila was trying to raise awareness about the problem of not doing contemporary art expression in art educa-tion in elementary schools. ecNearly three decades of painting baroque motifs of angels have earned Prstec’s hometown a permanent place in the history of painting, as well as the motto ‘The City Where Angels Sleep.’Under the eaves that keep the dust from the angelic wings, he was born in 1950. After the guardian angels carried him through the schools in Varaždin and Za-greb he started working. Since 1969 he has collected dust from angel wings on his paintings and exhibits it in galleries – sixty solo ex-hibitions and hundreds of group; in books – twenty titles of poetry, fiction and children’s literature; shows in graphic maps – of which ‘The City Where Angels Sleep’ became legendary- and on billboards which he dis-plays as a set.People from many countries looked and are crushed by his angel worlds. With all his angels, he is a member of the Croatian As-sociation of Artists and the Croatian Community of inde-pendent artists.

Often the motives are the painter’s trademark, which we unmistakably recognize: Cezan-ne’s nature morte with apples, Van Gogh’s sunflowers, Monnet’s lilies, Degas’s ballerinas and Prstec’s angels.
