Home For Christmas The Coordination Team would like to give a big THANK YOU to all who prayed, volunteered their time, provided resources and invited anyone to the “Home For Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship Services”.

As guests and members arrived they were greeted in the parking lot, welcomed at the front door and ushered into services that were filled with worship and praise that invited the Spirit of God to be with us in the presence of Baby Jesus.

Among the members and many guests there were 22 families that completed guest cards. Our volunteers have visited each guest and provided them with information about the Mustang United Methodist Church. The visit also included an invitation to attend Sunday Worship Services along with details about our Sunday School classes.

Please pray for our Church as we continue the mission of Open Hearts, Open Doors and Open Minds.

God Bless, The Coordination Team for “Home For Christmas”.

Things to note on your calendar: Disciple Bible Study III will meet through January to complete the first half of the study. We will then break until August 11-November 24, when we will resume to complete the second half of the study.

“Easter Experience”, this is a 6 wk Lenten study that we'll offer on Sunday afternoons at 5 pm beginning February 17 and will conclude on March 24, Palm Sunday. More information to come.

Dear Friends, I have always enjoyed the writings of Norman Vincent Peale. That may be because he was such a wonderful story teller -- and as you know, I love stories. One of his favorite stories is this one: “One day I was walking down the street, when I saw my friend George approaching. It was evident from his downtrodden look that he wasn't overflowing with the ecstasy and exuberance of human existence, which is a high-class way of saying, George was dragging bottom. Naturally I asked him, "How are you, George?" While that was meant to be a routine inquiry, George took me very seriously and for 15 minutes he enlightened me on how bad he felt. And the more he talked, the worse I felt. Finally I said to him, "Well George, I'm sorry to see you in such a depressed state. How did you get this way?" That really set him off. "It's my problems," he said. "Problems--nothing but problems. I'm fed up with problems. If you could get rid of all my problems, I would contribute $5,000 to your favorite charity." Well now, I am never one to turn a deaf ear to such an offer, and so I meditated, ruminated and cogitated on the proposition and came up with an answer that I thought was pretty good. I said, "Yesterday, I went to a place where thousands of people reside. As far as I could determine, not one of them has any problems. Would you like to go there?" "When can we leave? That sounds like my kind of place," answered George. "If that's the case, George," I said, "I'll be happy to take you tomorrow to Woodlawn Cemetery because the only people I know who don't have any problems are dead." I really like this story. Because it helps puts life in perspective. It helps me to realize that our problems are a sign of life. As long as we have problems and things to solve, we are alive. The only concern I have is when I seem to be more alive and therefore have more problems than I can handle. Those moments, when I find life overwhelming and that I can't handle everything that is in front of me. It's in those moments that I discover that I have moved away from God, once again. That I am trying to be “Superman” or worse yet, “Super Christian” and do it alone. The more I do that, the more frustrated and overwhelmed I become. It's only when I get back in sync with God that things begin to flow again and life seems less troublesome. It's only when I allow God room in my life to work that I find life fulfilling and exciting. Yes, we will have problems, but one discovers that with God and me (or God and you), working together, nothing is impossible. It’s interesting, but it’s the same in the church. If we don’t keep our focus on the “Main Thing” or choose to go our own way, we will struggle and probably fight. However, if we keep our focus on God we seem to do great things – greater than we ever imagined. Of course down the road we will discover that it was just a small part of God’s Plan. And soon, it becomes apparent that God has even greater plans for you, for me and for this church. And that is exciting to me.

February is Mustang United Methodist Church’s Skyline Month Food Drive Our current needs may vary from time to time, but the following items are always needed and we never have enough to go around. They are as follows: At the McKee Center: our greatest need is for paper products, (cups, plates, napkins, etc.) coffee, creamer, sugar, pastries, cookies, diapers etc. and

we can always use good, clean used clothing. At the Cupboard: our greatest need is for nonperishable food like peanut butter, canned or powdered milk, canned soup, tuna and other canned meat, canned fruit, and macaroni & cheese. WE ALSO NEED YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT to help us purchase items that are not donated and to help keep our ministry open. (Please note: we do not provide financial assistance.) Our funds are used to purchase necessary clothing and food items and to support our on-going programs. God bless you, Dale G. Tremper Minister-Director

Did you know???

Our church will need to give to our conference $2,151.00 for the year 2013 for Prison Ministries. We have had members of our church go to be a part of this ministry. They have gone into the prisons to share the love of Jesus and to help them in their walk with Him. These men are hungry for the comfort that only our Lord can provide. The Missions Committee’s monthly donation will be applied to this ministry. If you would like to join them please make your check out to MUMC and write “Prison Ministry” on the memo line or you can always give online at www.mustangumc.org.
