Staff Appreciation

SPRC has designated December as Staff Appreciation month, and a collection box will be in the Narthex starting November 26th for you to drop your donations. We will collect money through December 17th, and the money will be divided among the church staff as a Christmas gift recognizing them for their service to God’s church.

All money will be divided per SPRC direction. If you want to make a gift to a specific staff member(s), that gift should be made separately, and your check made out to that person or persons and given directly to them. SPRC wishes to thank all staff members for their service, and we hope that you will be as generous as possible in sharing just a little with them during the Christmas Season.

Thank you for your support of our staff, Staff Parrish Relations Committee

Christmas Bazaar! Can you believe it!

December 2nd will be our 35th Annual Christmas Bazaar!!!!

Were you aware there has been a bazaar held for about 47 years? The first bazars were just for the church participation and

included a Christmas meal. Every year that I have been involved I have always been in awe of the support of the entire church. And since we are now open to the public to attend that is great for our outreach.

Once again, you are already coming through in flying speed. Thank you doesn’t really express it. Our kitchen needs list is taken care of already, but we still appreciate monetary donations to buy the perishables. We are getting and can still use items for our Silent Auction and Children’s Corner.

Our vendor number is at 51 booths, and we have started a waiting list already.

Come and shop on December 2nd from 9 to 3. Have lunch with us, one of our Indian Tacos or chili, or hot dogs, etc.. All our profit goes to missions – local, state, nations, and world wide.

Any questions call – Nancy Dietrich (613-3559) or Donna Taylor (640-9001) or the church office. Thank you thank you and God bless

Do you facebook? Young or not so young, it’s a great way to share life with family & friends. But, it can be even more. It can be your source to give and get information to your church family. The church facebook page can be another way to be in community and be Jesus to one another. Just make sure that what you post is ok for everyone to read, keep it brief & keep it positive! The Mustang United Methodist Youth and the Mustang United Methodist Women also have a facebook page. Make sure to visit their pages for regular updates on upcoming events!

The holiday season is upon us! Using Amazon.com for Christmas shopping? Did you know if you sign on to Amazon through the church website, MustangUMC.org,

the church will receive a donation from Amazon (up to 10% depending on your purchase)?

This does not effect your purchase price in any way. So far this year we have received $97.16.

Bolivia Mission Trip Christmas Music Fundraiser

It will be a come and go event with a love offering to help raise money for our team.

Come and enjoy the songs of the season!

“Dear God, Thank You For…”

My youngest brother used to be the one to say grace at supper time when we were kids. We would all

fold our hands, bow our heads and settle in for a long prayer. You see, my brother had to give thanks for

everything thing on the table. “Dear God, thank you for the roast beef, the mashed potatoes, the gravy, the

green beans, the bread, the butter, the salt and pepper, the sliced tomatoes, the milk, the water and…” Then

there would be a big pause. I peeked once, and he was looking around the table taking inventory of

everything making sure he did not miss thanking God for anything and then he would say, “Amen.” I was

always glad when we had soup or chili, because he just had to say thank you for a couple of things and we

could eat sooner.

My brother’s style of praying as a child was right on target. Most times we are in a hurry and pray,

“God, thank you for a good day.” I wonder if God says, “You’re welcome for the good day. But tell me,

what was good about it? Tell me about the good parts.” But we quickly say “amen” in a hurry to move on

to the next thing we have to do or if we are still praying we give God our list of wants and needs.

What if we spent time each day thanking God for everything and actually listing all the “everything-s.”

Paul wrote to the people of Thessalonica, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all

circumstances.” (1 Thessalonians 5. 16-18) In other words give thanks for everything. Give thanks for the

good happenings and the bad. (Not that the bad happened, but that God was with you in the bad times.)

Give thanks for your house. “But the roof leaks.” Give thanks for a roof, even if it leaks. Give thanks for

your spouse, even if they forget to take the trash out or that you have a dish washer for that glass that always

gets left on the counter. Give thanks for your kids on sunny days and rainy days. Give thanks for friends

and family. Give thanks for front yards and back yards, for neighbors and the stranger that smiled. Give

thanks for traffic jams and open roads. Give thanks…there is so much to be thankful for and yes, there are

things for which it is hard to say, “thank you,” but we are to give thanks anyways. Remember… “in all

circumstances.”

During the month of November, find a notebook and everyday write down the date and under the date

write five (5) things for which you are thankful. For 30 days keep a log of those things for which you are

thankful. The trick is not to repeat anything. So, when you get half way through the month you might have

to go back and read what you have written so there are not any repeats. See if by the end of the month you

aren’t looking during your day for those things to put on your “thank you” list. See if by the end of the

month you aren’t a changed person, a thanksgiving person.

Join me in a month of giving thanks. “Dear God, thank you for…”

See you Sunday,

Pastor Donna

Our Turkey vs Ham Food Drive begins

Sunday, November 5 and ends Sunday, November 19. You can vote for your Thanksgiving preference of Turkey or Ham by placing your food items in the boxes marked TURKEY or HAM. This is not a Thanksgiving Dinner Food Drive. Our Food Pantry serves people through out the year and especially in the winter. Many of these people are homeless and live in their vehicles, so we are looking for foods that don’t need a can opener, but have ring pull lids. Also items that can be eaten without being cooked. Here are some of the items needed most: • Canned meats: chicken, tuna, vienna sausages,

meat spreads, jerky or meat sticks • Canned pastas: spaghettios, ravioli, etc. • Crackers: plain or graham, peanut butter or cheese

cracker packages • Peanut butter • Seeds and nuts • Soups • Ready to eat meals that do not require refrigeration • Mac and cheese or soup cups that you add water to

and microwave • Fruit cups, pudding cups, applesauce • Instant cereal packages • Cereal bars • Powdered drink mix that can be added to a bottle of

water. • Instant coffee For families who have homes: • Dry beans or rice • Pasta and canned meat sauce • Mac and Cheese • Banquet Homestyle Bake meal kits • Powdered milk

Come help us decorate for the Advent and Christmas season. We’ll be decorating the Sanctuary on Tuesday, November 28 at 9 am. Join us!
